I just bought a climate control for my 09' Prerunner and the one I bought is silver and the one I have installed is silver. But the heat comes on instead of the cool side kinda like the controls are backwards? Can anyone help to let me know whats going on? Thanks guys!

At some point in the 2nd gen model run the voltage output of the temp control knob was reversed but I'm not sure of the year ranges, sounds like you got one that is from a different year truck.

The color and trim level of the truck shouldn't make a difference but I do know the internal electronics were changed at some point although I'm not 100% sure what year that change occurred but I believe it was somewhere around 09.

The guy told me that the model I bought was for an SR5 model, he said SR5 models are silver? I of course am not sure but I do not think mine is an SR5. Im not sure if that matters? The plugs and controls looked the same which was weird for it to not work properly.

I don’t know. My truck is an SR5 and it is Silver. But I don’t think the color makes a difference. It’s the year model AFAIK.

Yeah If I can figure out how to get my old one to stay in place someone broke the lower holding tabs that keep it in the dash off. I tried some double sided tape but I want something that would last.

Sounds like you need to invest in climate controls for your year of truck otherwise get a reverse acting controller to have things work right. Option 3 is to change the colors on the cluster, red being cold and blue is hot.

I bought this from a 2009 Tacoma SR5 and I sent my vin numbers over to McGeorge last night and they got back to me this morning and said mine was a 2009 SR5 so I am guessing that mine is either the older model or newer model. When I get time I am going to try to find any numbers on the parts and see what the differences could be.
