It's been a while since I've been on here mostly cause I'm busy working but I'm thinking of relocating my dual battery setup to the bed any ideas or opinions would be great

    A few suggestions.

Securing them so they don’t slide around.

Securing them so they aren’t easily stolen.

A breaker close to the battery.

Make sure the cables are of sufficient size for the additional length.

Protect the cables from abrasion and heat.

If you don’t already have 2 12v batteries to run parallel, consider 2 6v batteries in series.

This is a great idea IMO.

My house battery is in the bed of my truck. Temperatures are far more favorable for the battery and it stays clean. No regrets.

Custom setup to secure it. It's there on the lower right of the image

I went behind the seat with mine. Going to redo the wiring once I get a nicer isolator and all but it would be the same as putting it in the bed. Theres already a large grommet for the bed size.

So for securing them I actually have a genesis off-road dual battery kit that im going to mount to the back center of the bed or corner haven't decided yet. Probably center for weight distribution.
Easily stolen I kind of want to partially box them in or just use some kid of security screw when securing the batteries. Not to worried about it as trucks parked in a very safe area when I do drive it.
As far as breakers go ive seen people use tons of different options and am a little lost on it.
Cables what gauge should be the best 2 , 1/0 ?
Protecting the cables I have a bunch of protective sheathing from wiring other stuff in the truck and know how important it is to cover that stuff especially if I run it under the truck.
    I have 2 odyssey group 34 batteries

See I love this ! But I feel like with mine since I'm not running any covers in the rear since I'm running a long travel kit and going to be caging the bed but relocating the batteries just seems like the most logical thing especially running dual battery set up it puts a lot of weight on the driver side

Alot of people need more than one battery, not to mention Toyota seems to eat them worse than most vehicles. My 15 is on its 3rd starter.

Agreed, and camping things like that running lights on a secondary battery is really nice and dont have to worry about draining your main battery

    Some really clean setups posted.

@Radioactiv. Is that Wera tool as good as the reviews suggest? I had one eating starters. Ended up being a pretty significant voltage drop at the starter compared to at the battery due to resistance in the positive cable. With the old cable .8v drop, with the new cable .23v drop. That's doing a starter voltage drop test. It's been 5 months, starter still working good so far.

@TacoBoone. Someone recently posted a chart that shows wire size recommended for a length.

@Waasheem its okay for a stubby. As you can see that one corroded up riding around in my SXS and so did my allen wrenches that I broke one of. I perfer my megapro screwdriver though.
