TRD Beadlocks

I just stole bought these off of an old Toyota mechanic. He somehow bought them new from Toyota without a VIN. Only driven 20,000 miles. Something I appreciate that he did was remove the flaking clear coat from the rings and polished them with mothers. He also added blue lock tight to the ring bolts.

A bonus are the Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure Kevlar tires. They should hold up well on trails until I install a lift and 33’s in a couple of months.

I wish Toyota offered those in 17s

 

They did offer a 17” Forged Tundra TRD Beadlock style wheel. It’s a bit different and I think even harder to come by. Part number is PTR45-34120.

The 6x5.5 is even harder to come by since the tundra moved to a 5x5.5 hub and they continued making the wheels in this pattern.

 

Tundra uses 5 lugs. I think there was a company that made 17 replicas

 

They made that "Rock Warrior" wheel in both 5 and 6 lug versions. You'll notice the OP's post references this and the photo is of a 6 lug version.

I haven't seen replicas of the Rock Warrior wheels but I've seen some replica-ish versions of the faux beadlock.

 

Found this on a tundra forum, supposedly the 6 lugs were on a 4Runner?

RRW made one, but I forget the name. Overlander was the other one and I think those were made by FN Wheels.

 

17 Rock Warrior 6hole were popular with T4R.

Wait, I thought they were discontinued?! How did you go about buying 9? Usually they are VIN locked and only one can be purchased at a time.

Only some dealers care about the VIN lock. And although these are discontinued and out of stock there are still some out there, hidden, on dealer shelves. As far as I know there's no way to find these other than call every dealership directly as from my experience I don't think they can confirm each other's inventory.

Correct, I spent 2 weeks calling every dealer in the country, I was able to part voice their inventory and it told me they had one in stock. Crazy because most dealers kept telling me "NO" they don't have it in stock. I had to force the parts rep to go check and they would come back and say "Yea, I got one here."

 

As of today, 2 have shown up to my house from two different dealers, the remainder come in next week. I will wait until i've got them all in hand and update everyone, but all 9 wheels have been paid for.

 

That link you listed is for the 4runner/Tundra 17" Rock warrior beadlocks. The one's I purchased are the 16" like pictured on your Tacoma

 

I wonder if your calling around somehow pushed Sparks Toyota to find (7) center caps which showed up on eBay earlier this week.

I’d love to get more spares (I have plenty of spare parts, but only one spare wheel) but $260/per is a bit too rich to sit on a shelf indefinitely.

Toyota was very weird with these wheels over the years. Back in late 2012 when I bought my 2013 the part number for the graphite wheels were not listed anywhere. I basically had to figure it out myself since the TX Baja trucks were just released. I couldn’t get a set even with a VIN. I offered a parts guy $100 to order them for me.

The black wheels were also locked but some dealers were ordering them one by one to sell as a set. I grabbed a black set that way and at the time was the last set in the country that wasn’t on a stop sale.

Fast-forward to 2018 they were being listed on Toyota’s website as an optional accessory for the 3G trucks, no different than the floor mats. At that point I bought a set of five from the local dealer without any drama. In mid-2021 when all the supplies were drying up I started buying up spare parts and I actually hit a VIN lock buying replacement ring bolts. The dealer helped me work around it but I was surprised.

With sets selling on eBay for $2,000 plus it’s easy to see how you could easily make a fast profit. I wish they weren’t selling for that much as I’d like another (3) to sit on in case something happened. However, today I couldn’t justify even $260/per, sadly.
