Brake pedal goes down 1-2" before I feel any resistance

I just got a 2022 TRD OR recently. I was wondering if something was wrong with my brakes.

Every time I step on the brakes it seems like the pedal goes down 1-2" before I feel any resistance. Once I feel the brake engages it seems like I really have to press down hard on the pedal to get the truck to stop. When I'm at a red light I really have to push down hard on the pedal to keep the truck from rolling forward.

I did have Toyota check the brakes out and they said there was nothing wrong with them.

I've had three Tacoma's SR5's prior to this truck and I never experienced this issue. Has anyone else experienced this?

Normal. You'll get used to it.

I'm not sure if that is normal. My 2020 OR, the brakes are very touchy. If I'm not careful or in a panic stop, passengers are flying forward. I usually dump the dog on the floor multiple times during normal stop and go traffic if I'm not thinking about it.

Same here. Mine are very sensitive and throw passengers without warning.

probably could use a good bleed. my brakes feel like they got a little air in the lines from the factory.

    Yeah
Adjust your rear brakes out a bit. I bet they came super loose, mine did.

I'm not sure about the OR (since they use an electronic booster instead of everyone else's vacuum booster) but these trucks do have a little bit of computer meddling going on with the pedals.

The slower the press, the more play it has. The faster your foot moves, the faster the booster engages. Try a quick and shallow stomp the next time you have an open lot to play in, see what happens.

Same. On my 2021 you'll be slamming on the brakes with ease. It's a helluva adjustment since I have a 2014 Sport with the regular vacuum assisted booster that is a whole lot softer. Going back and fourth between the two is entertaining...

Sounds pretty normal the your brake petal is suppose to feel. I think my 2020 sr5 is very similar till you get a good petal. Just be sure you have an adequate brake fluid level.
