I think it's more to do with propane cylinders aren't allowed indoors due to fire risk, but how do you get one to an upper balcony unless you take it indoors and up the stairs or in the elevator?

I did a little bit of research and here is what I gathered. When people have a fire on an upper level balcony, they often block themselves off from having any sort of escape route. That was reason number one.

Reason 2 was people accidentally starting fires on roofs. They spread quickly and cause much more damage because they are harder to get to.

 

The Great Lakes system includes five large lakes, one small lake, four connecting channels, and the St. Lawrence Seaway. The large lakes are Superior, Michigan, Huron, Erie, and Ontario. They hold about 90% of the freshwater in the United States and approximately 20% of the world's freshwater supply.

 

I'm about to go get my GFC topper installed later on during the fall. Anything you wished you'd of thought of/known before hand?

 

The only thing I did before getting mine installed was order a Sherpa roof rack made to fit with the GFC. Other than that, I didn't even pull up the bed rails and lay down butyl tape or whatever people are obsessing over. I did have some foam plugs in the back corners of the bed from when I had a tonneau cover, though. My bed and truck weren't even clean because I made the drive from California to Montana via Oregon/Washington/Idaho in February.

I think it's best to see it installed and use it before you really start building anything out.

 

I didn't do anything other than put some tape over the drain holes in the bed before I got my GFC installed. If you drive around all day in a heavy rain you'll see a little water dripping from under the bed rails, but its really not much at all.

 

Make sure you get doors on both sides of the tent. Also I had a fiberglass topper on prior so I already had the rubbery goop sealing the whole bed which wound up being nice so I didnt have to do anything to seal it up. I live in the desert so trying to keep dust down is a huge task. I installed a bedrug which I love because it makes the back really cozy but its still super tough material and easy to clean. Also makes it a million times nicer to crawl around in back since you aren't kneeling on corrugated hard plastic.

Do you find that thermacell works pretty well? Was looking into those but was skeptical if they'd be effective.

 

It’s been more effective than a citronella candle or bug spray for me. Either I get lucky every time I use it, or it works… not sure mosquitoes care about the placebo effect

 

You can reuse the Thermocell mats by recharging them. Use permethrin. Vids on how on the net. I live down in a creek bottom and the mosquitoes are tough. I triple the permethrin ratio. It really soups up the Thermocell's effectiveness. You can refill the fuel cannisters too! Vids on net...

Explored some new spots, and visited some old favorites, in the North Maine Woods last week.

 

Spent the weekend up in the Green Mountain National Forest this weekend, camping with my girlfriend, and meeting some other taco enthusiasts. Love camping up here. Its free, its pretty, and theres a ton of fishing spots!!!
First pic: a quick rigged tarp setup. I have a canvas tarp I keep in the truck. I played around with some rigging ideas. I think I want to pick up 2 painters poles for the sides, for rigidity. Kept the sun off later in the day though, this way.
Second pic: Gazelle tent, and camp. The only public toilets in the entire area, that I know of. There are other, rough camping spots, and we scouted them-unfortunately, all were taken. Oh well.

Fourth pic: My cooking station. The Svea lives in the truck. The Camp Kitchen chuck box I got last year, and this was the first outing with it. I have to say, I love having this thing. EVERYTHING is organized in it.

 

Is the Camp Kitchen box water tight? Looks like a good one.

 

I have one of those. I haven’t had it in the rain so I’m not sure if it’s air tight or not. It’s a great box but, very bulky and heavy. I moved to a 8 gallon action packer. Much easier to navigate and smaller foot print.
