Have a local who is selling one for $400 but it has the chrome tip (which I hate). I do however have the TRD OEM Black tip for the regular exhaust. Can I just use this on the performance exhaust?

No. The TRD Exhaust has a welded on tip.

Although, you can scuff it up and paint it. I did that with a TRD exhaust that I had the pre-axle dump done on. Used VHT ceramic paint. It is doing amazingly well.

    Oh look, another mod....
No. The black tip slides over the existing stock exhaust tip. The performance exhaust has the same size tip as the black chrome tip. Unless you want to cut off the tip and mount it with a coupler or weld it; it will not work.

How difficult was that to do? Hate the Chrome, love the price.

Super easy. Just scuffed it with a wire wheel and sprayed it per the instructions. It cures with a couple heat cycles that they have you do while idling.

    This stuff with instructions:

Did this to mine, found a trd pro exhaust for 100$. Cleaned it, sanded it, cleaned it, and painted it satin black. Been holding up fine for the last year.

The entire TRD exhaust was about $800 last summer
