Is this legit antifreeze? Seems too good to be true.

In my 02 Camaro I use Prestone Dexcool full concentrate from Walmart and cut it half with distilled water. I use the pink Toyota coolant in the Tacoma and paid around $30 for a gallon of 50/50 from Amazon.

Whatever you use, flush it completely before adding new (can't mix different types). This is less of a concern if you're refilling with the same type.

Nothing wrong with Prestone products imo. I've used their DOT 3, DOT 4 brake fluids, power steering fluids, and coolants. They work fine.

I just picked some up at the dealer and they charged me $25.80 per gal.

I don’t like mixing different brands of anti-freeze.
I used OE SLLC, because I didn’t drain the block or flush the system.

If I were flushing a system, I would probably be ok with running the Prestone.
I do like the pink color Toyota uses though, as it easier to spot a leak if you have one.

Some sanctioning bodies require water as coolant because if it leaks onto the track from an accident or blown hose, water will simply evaporate. An antifreeze spill makes the track slippery and is harder to clean up.

In those cases people add redline water water to improve the waters cooling performance
    Common on track bikes
Not sure if it adds freeze protection

We used to own a Miata, and it would sometimes run a bit warm. I added Water Wetter and it didn't seem to make a difference. Later, after I stopped thinking about it, I noticed it wasn't running as hot as before. So *maybe* it worked? Also had 50/50 antifreeze & distilled water in it.

Did you ever get to the root cause of the overheating?

The Redline Water Wetter acts as a surfactant. A single drop of dishwashing liquid (Dawn, etc.) has same effect.

Aluminum is a fantastic anode that corrodes to protect the more ''noble'' steel and iron in a closed system. Run straight water at your own peril. And you will be 100% denied on any repairs if you have a warranty and they find straight water in your cooling system and corrosion is present and the reason for failure.

No, I never did -- though it improved somewhat after adding Water Wetter, and wasn't a serious problem. Every bit of airflow helps so I ran without a front license plate.

I'll 2nd the Zerex. Been using it for years, in many different Toyotas, without issue.

Unfortunately, aluminum self anodizes quite quickly and breaks any possibility of electron flow to those other metals thus preventing any more corrosion. The anodized layer does not allow the entry of water as a conductor like porous iron oxide does and is electrically nonconductive. Engines have been running distilled water for more then 100 years with no ill effects, in fact its an even more efficient coolant then antifreeze mix. There are places in the world that are near the equator, never see freezing temperatures, have modern cars and you won't find antifreeze for sale anywhere but the dealer because its not needed.

OK, that's why water heater anodes are magnesium, or if there are odor issues, aluminum. Have you ever worked on a Land Rover before?;)

Magnesium IS a better anode which is why its used far more [we use it in cathodic protection on NG steel lines] but even though aluminum does oxidize, it will still sacrifice itself if in contact with a more ''noble'' metal.

Unfortunately they don't carry it anymore. It was replaced by Peak Asian and Walmart's own house brand formula.

But O'Reillys and Advance Auto often have it on sale
