So while waiting for a response..... I'm standing there with a Root Slayer shovel (sharpened edges, etc), preparing to take care of it if it turned out poisonous. I'm running through scenarios in my head and I start to realize that there's no way in hell I'm going to be able to do this. I literally froze up and wished my hardest the thing came back harmless. If it wasn't, my neighbor was going to be getting a call.

Oh boy, not showing that to Jenn or I'll never get her out to your place. Come to think of it, I'm having second thoughts too lol. Guess I gotta get used to being a country boy now.

67.8 hours after 1 year and 2 weeks of ownership...figured it wouldn't be too hard a job...aside from the oil filter mishap, it was easy and also reminded me of pulling skids off the Taco after a muddy visit to Chris and Shan's place!! Dumped tons of leaves, dirt and millepedes off of the rear skid in order to access the oil pan/filter area.

It's not a big machine...its a little Perkins diesel 24.7hp turbo 3 banger that powers my little skid steer!!

Maybe you need instruction? I've had mine for 25 years and it's never met a stuck filter. And 10 or so of that was professional use.

The 1gr oil filter location has me spoiled. Haven't needed a wrench yet. Just get the meaty claws in there and yank it out.

Did my mom's sienna and it was under the front exhaust manifold. Had a dog of a time getting it one

Initial grip and rotation (from under the machine, pushing up) I could see it start to budge and then immediately the claws slipped.
Having broken and busted enough stuff these last handful of years, I inspected and realized it dented the filter canister. So I grabs a fresh rag, wiped filter and tried again, only to have it slip without feeling/seeing the can budge...so I put some flexible sandpaper on the filter between top and bottom jaws and it was basically like the initial effort. When we finally got it rotating, I think after almost 2 rotations we heard the audible seal break.

She's in a very tight space, so getting a good angle/enough leverage is a bit of a struggle - here's the view from the top side, granted it's a tight shot trying to just get a pick of the dented filter.

I'm thankful it's only required annually, or 567hrs, whichever comes first!

My neighbor came across a family of copperheads when he was removing the retaining wall behind our house last fall. The little ones scampered up the hill while the mama got caught between a couple railroad ties and kept attacking the skidsteer forks before it finally succumbed to the life crushing forces being enacted upon it. That was a pretty good afternoon of entertainment right there.
