Hey everyone. Have a question for 4cyl guys with other than stock size tires.
I'm on the fence about whether to go with 255/70/17 or 265/70/17. Is there much of a power rob difference between the two? I will be using the 17" TRD Pro rims.
I'm on mostly logging roads, desert roads to get to camp sites.
I just don't want to have to re-gear right now, I don't care about gas mileage, just don't want to bog this thing down more than I have to

My son’s TSS 2.7L came with the 265/65/17 Nitto Terra Grappler. This size tire runs great with our 4 cyl. I have heard some occasional rubbing issues with stock suspensions and 265/70/17.

IEsurfer - does your truck have stock suspension or lift?

Thanks for the replies! Looks like I'll go with the 265's, never really like the skinny look

FWIW keep this in the back of your mind,
ALMOST all of the rubbing issues are due to non-OEM wheels.

255/85/16 pizza cutters have been run with ZERO rubbing.

I run 255/75/17s on FJ wheels and have ZERO issues.

It’s the aftermarket offset that causes the rubbing of things, now some of the “things” being rubbed can be remedied quickly and easily, some can’t.

Throw up a pic or two when you have your new shoes.

A set of 17x8.5 Method wheels with 0 offset popped up on Marketplace this morning for 900.00. According to a offset calculator I should be OK with these with 265/70/17's. Any thoughts on this setup?

If the offset calculator works for ya that’s a good sign. In all honesty I’ve never used it as for years I only ran factory wheels. On my Honda Civics and Tacoma and Land Cruiser. Just different variations of factory wheels.

Obviously do you own homework, or (Googlework) Enter the wheel name and Tacoma in Google Image search and see what pops up.

Years ago we used to call and talk with Tirerack as they knew exactly what would and wouldn’t fit on the cars we wanted to sell with aftermarket wheels on them.

Discount Tire and their website are that way now, pretty much if they say it fits, it fits!

    Hope that helps man,
