For sure. I'm so bummed I'm out for wheeling this season. I miss it enough that I've had this crazy thought of riding bitch. Which for a type A like me is truly crazy. I could drink more beer that way though. lol

Yup! I have friends who tell me all the time "it's not that bad, I never had a problem finding Toyota parts at the auto parts store". Meanwhile i couldn't even find damn vac lines that fit my Avalon or a banjo bolt for my brake caliper on my Tacoma.

Looking for 96 3.4 Tacoma wiring diagram with the camshaft position sensor circuits. Can’t get rid of this p0340, previous owner had cut the harness and rewired from the plug to the ecu. Sensor tested good so I checked the wires and they’re not broken anywhere so I replaced the pigtail and code still pops up. Just wanna make sure they wired everything correctly.

Are you trying to place upper/lower mount?

Can you draw a picture of it?

Thats a shielded circuit, if he replaced the wiring without shielding and grounding it properly as it was factory it'll pickup noise from the coils and injectors and foul the signal.

They just cut the two wires coming out of the ecu, soldered new ones to it and shrink wrapped them and ran it through the firewall and soldered it again before the plug on the front of the timing cover. I assume the wire got cut somehow and they just wired it the best they knew how.
So how would you recommend fixing it now besides a whole new harness?

You can buy shielded cable, this one from Holley might work for you, I don't remember the gauge of the sensor wire but I'd assume this is plenty thick enough for a VR sensor like the cam uses. This just has one extra wire in, you could leave that unhooked I'd suppose.
