I am at 105k. about a year or two away from 120k. found gear oil at walmart for $10. is that enough for a drain and fill.

1 gallon container. will sit in my garage until time to change.

    Yeah.
Should be enough for the rear.

Yeah, that’s plenty. You’ll have some left over.
The manual says it holds just over a 3 quarts. I never got more than just over over 2.5 quarts in mine.

If you can’t get 3 quarts in there, don’t worry about it.

BTW, that’s the exact same stuff I run in my rear differential.

Does your sport have an LSD? IIRC some sports had an LSD (forget which year s though) and require an LSD compatible gear oil or standard gear oil with an LSD additive.

Other than that, Valvoline makes quality products so you should be good to go.

Pretty sure 2009+ trucks do not need the additive.
2009+ use a brake actuated LSD and are an open differential.

08 was last year of mechanical LSD. Thus, regular gear oil is acceptable. OP will need a pump or pour gear oil into a smaller container to be able to pour into the fill hole.

He could also lower the spare tire and poor it straight in from the bottle. Clean and fill the spare and make sure the chain mechanism is lubed up nice. Still will be faster and cleaner than pumping.
