Installed the XB Amber headlights last night. Everything seems to work fine except there is no startup light dance sequence. I didn't do the fuse relay based on posts I've read here. I have a 2018 Sport.

Light dance and bright white drls are tied to fuse tap iirc

Thank you. Just trying to find out what fuse to use so the lights don't come on when the truck is parked. If I go to the AC fuse, sounds like there's dimming problems there. Ultimately, I feel it's better to not plug into the fuse box with all the other issues I've read about. First 24hrs, so just looking for more information.

I'm not using the fuse tap. I get bright drls and startup light dance. BUT... I do need to release the parking brake before turning on the drls/lights to get the startup dance sequence.
I was originally using the fuse tap but then removed it because I didn't like the bright drls being on 100% of the time, even when in the off position. Plus the drls would randomly turn on after being parked, even in the middle of the night.
I removed the fuse tap and everything works as I would expect it to.

Edit: Check out post 2767 for my experience

So I’ve been using these with no issues for the last 6 months (not using the DRL harness). The start up sequence never worked so I tried to use the DRL harness to see if that would work and no luck. I noticed the DRLs coming on by themselves at night so I just went to disconnect and set them back up without it. But now the DRLs won’t come on with the auto function in the stalk. Any suggestions?

Check post #2770. Did you reconnect the plug after removing the fuse tap?

Like reconnect the DRL plug from the headlight back to the truck harness? I did do that!

Omg.. I figured it out. When I put connected the harnesses back together, I just turned on the truck and didn’t see them come on, so I figured something was wrong. Little did I know, they don’t come on when the parking brake is engaged….

Took me a bit to figure that out too! Seems strange the p-brake needs to be released before turning on the drls. Is your start up sequence working? I'm good as long as the p-brake is released first.

I think start up seq is tied to fuse tap

I fully regret not grabbing these during black Friday last year, but better late than never.
these things are awesome! pictures really don't do them justice!

My only gripe is how I feel that I cannot see far at all while driving at night, I raised the headlights as High as they can go but I know I only have about 3 rotations on that adjuster.
I'm going to adjust the lift this weekend to see if that helps, I have a lot more rake after installing the bumper.

I don't have the fuse tap connected and my start up sequence works fine. As someone else mentioned, it comes on when the p-brake is first released if you have it connected to the DRL line.

    Hello!
Does anyone has a picture of the harness needed to install the headlights on the newer Tacomas with oem led headlights?
I want to see if I can help a friend make a harnes since he was told the harness has an ETA of August.I would like to know if it’s something simple like splitting the connector into the connectors needed or if need relays or controllers.
    Thanks

I think these are what you are referring to. I know nothing about wiring, but these came with my Morimoto XB's and I didn't use them because I have an SR5 with non native DRLs

Thank you! Although that’s not what I was referring to, it does make me want to buy this headlights for mine(also an SR5) but they are really expensive

To better explain myself, most of the newer Tacomas TRD (21+) come with LED headlights and only have one connector that looks like this:
    3F2D3F7E-6A03-4BD7-B015-737E6E506625.jpg
so they make a harness that converts that connector to the multiple connectors the morimoto headlights have.
So I want to know if the harness is something simple or if it has some components needed for the headlights to work. which I really doubt but I want to be sure.
I found ALPHAREX has a harness which I believe will work since they and morimoto sell the headlights to be “plug and play”. so the connectors for the headlights should be the same.
Then again I just want to be sure
