I read in the manual yesterday and it seems unclear to me exactly how to achieve this. Let me reread it now and see if it makes more sense today, i am on painkillers right now, but thanks.

Just pushed the button and had a great conversation with the nice gentleman on the other end. There are three parts to this feature: safety connect, ensure connect, and service connect. The latter two are the ones recording data and transmitting to Toyota and their 3rd parties. The safety connect is for you to use during accidents or to request towing. If you are unable to call it will call for you if you are unconscious, which i am interested in. But you can opt out of the other two only, it is not use one use all.

At least in a GM product the damn car won't run right in the first place, less time to have it happen

    i'm just gonna say it.

i'm so happy to have an '18 that doesn't have any of this crap. heck, i'm not even that excited to have the federally-mandated backup camera.

i sure hope toyota's got those 2nd gen rust issues figured out, i think i'm keeping this truck at least 50 years!

I almost voiced this, but then I remembered all of those annoying-as-fuck 2017 owners that couldn't wait to voice "Sure glad that I don't have that nanny TSS!" not to mention all those SR owners that say "so happy I have a real key like a real man!"
    :duh:

I'm perfectly happy with my 2018 too, but if people want the full carplay and app connectivity, I can see why. Good for them.

Don't love the camera either which my wife's Rav4 has though I can see where it comes in handy at times.

This. To each thine own. I have absolute bare bones in my truck and it's the other way, so many people ask how I can live without having features

lol, the tss and radar are annoying, i'm still looking at pulling them.

but the most annoying part of all of it is that i couldn't get a manual on the 4-dr long bed...

I like the tech but i can live without them, always have. The tech i like and use often is backup camera, hands free phone calling, cruise control radar and buttons in the steering wheel, the rest , whatever
