Could I get some advice on doing a free wheel conversion from those that have done this? I am new to this group and would like the opinions and wisdom from the group... If you were to have done it all over again and had access to all the used 1st gen and 2nd gen parts that you wanted. What custom parts need to be bought and what parts are needed? I have a stock 2014 TRD. The CV's are starting to need to be replaced. This seems like an oppourtun time to do a free wheel conversion. I have a large credit with the local 4x4 Shop (has all the used parts that I may need).

    Thanx

I am trying to elimate the CV's from spinning all the time. I have been able to feel the vibration since the truck was new. It gotten worse lately. All of my other 4 wheel drives have had lock-outs. To me this is a design flaw from the manufacture.

If you are feeling a vibe there’s something wrong either an axle or driveshaft is out of balance. While I agree a lockout would be nice I wouldn’t consider it a design flaw, more like an oversite because vehicle manufacturers are adapting to the people who know less and less about how to operate machinery and just want a knob or button to accomplish all tasks.

Or the needle bearing in the diff needs to be replaced with the ECGS bushing. That smoothed mine right out.
