I wouldn’t be surprised if the oil was already three years old or more before it was bottled.

for a track car/hard usage cycle, that's not out of the ordinary.
but i'd definitely be running a UOA on it to track whether it's worth it...

Oil life is probably decades as far as unopened bottles go. If it had the latest ILSAC/API rating I’d store up for the next 5 years.

There are no stupid questions if you don't know. Thats how you learn. I would be more worried about the stupid replies.

The only issue with this plan is oil specifications are upgraded yearly or sooner. Not that 2 year old doesn’t meet spec’s I’d go with a 2 year supply. Just mho.

Stocking up that much only makes sense to me if it was some kind of once in a liftetime deal, like some shop or store going out of business and liquidating their inventory.
Stores have sales often enough. Their sales don't always align with when my oil change is due, but my strategy is to buy the supplies for just the next oil change while there's a sale and then end up using it within a couple months. Then a few months later they have another sale and I buy for the next oil change and hold it for a couple months.
Why store all that oil when Napa will store it for you? Imagine doing that with every consumable you use. My warehouse is at the store.
