    Hey guys,

I am looking for some recommendations on camping places near water up to 4 hours from Sacramento.

My wife and I want to go somewhere near water, take some kayaks, setup a tent and make a bonfire. Mainly interested in off-roading to to get to a place.

    Any suggestions?

I may be able to help with "outside of regular campgrounds" near Sacramento. Sounds like you want to boon dock? If so, take a look at this Boondocking website: https://boondocking.org

Perhaps my wording was a bit off - but something only accessible by offroading.

OK, got it! Although some of the sites mentioned require 4X4 to access.
