Yes I will. Because of the user's error, Toyota will spend money and pass that spent money on to their customers in the form of higher prices.
Just like insurance fraud. If a guy gets a $1M payout because he defrauds the company, the insurance company will pass that $1M on to their customers in the form of higher policy prices.

rofl, no one is getting a million dollar payout without it getting investigated. and you aren't seeing higher prices on your next tacoma because they paid $1200 for a clutch for one guy.

but it doesn't matter anyway cause they're not going to cover a clutch disk unless it was damaged by a failed throwout bearing.

Defraud, as in paying more than MSRP for a used vehicle with an issue? We all know we take chances even when purchasing new. I only asked advice for the best outcome for myself.
I didn't pressure the dealer to purchase something they didn't need, I didn't indicate on a form that they wanted to pay more for services wrapped into the sale of a vehicle for the benefit of my own understaffed service department. Wait, the dealer did all these things in the purchase of the used vehicle I purchased. I declined several of their offers they put into the final contract anyway. Except the "discounted" extended warranty.

I am an honest person, and I have paid the price many times over in wanting to make a complete disclosure when selling vehicles.

If you want to talk about making others pay more, I think that discussion starts with insurance, lawyers, and taxes.

I have no idea who the previous owner may be. I purchased this used at a local dealership. I did find a good bit of sand in the back seat, under the back seat, and hopefully baby puke under the back seat. :)

I am not looking to scam anyone, and I know what driving a manual clutch should be like. I put a 93 F150 I-6 MT long bed 4x4 through 13 years of towing trailers, hauling wood till the tires scrapped the fender, and not once did I ever back up, climb an incline, which produced a burn smell from the clutch. I never had a single issue with the clutch. I put about 50 k on that truck over the years in Appalachian mountains. This tacoma truck is only driven in mild foot hills and flat lands.

I think, and its only my opinion, that there is either an issue with this truck, or the tall reverse is a poorly done design issue for a truck with a towing cap of 6400 lbs.

Yup… they don’t make them like they used to. These clutches are not very robust and I think Toyota saying you can tow 5,000+ lbs with a manual trans is wrong. I’ve heard several people have this happen. God knows I did it too, clutch was destroyed just moving around a 3,000 lb boat maneuvering it in a tight space with a lot of backing up and maneuvering. That was a 2nd gen but it’s the same idea. Wish you best of luck sorting it out.

That is a simplification of how insurance works from the insurance company. Insurance companies are investors, whose money sources are your premiums.

You can seek insurance products from other insurers. One who feels their rate is too high are not required to stay with any one company overcharging them. This fraud you speak of is also a felony. Insurance companies employ a lot of investigators and lawyers to ensure these incidents are minimized. Same goes for claims they should be paying.

When I hear insurance companies talking about fraud loss, it always reminds me of the thousands of dollars I spend on insurance annually, without incidents, without claims,in a well maintained home, and have only my status quo to show for it.

Don't worry, I don't plan to ask for anything I don't feel is fair treatment. I can take that hitch off, I can not disclose I own trailers I have used, but its hard to hide an installed brake controller.

The truck came with a factory tow package, and to put this truck out in the market with a factory MT and clutch not up to the job, is toyota's fault.

If I can't do simple things with it without work arounds, it probably isn't worth the fun part of having a MT.

as others have mentioned reverse is a tall gear. in a previous vehicle reversing up a steep driveway in R burned my clutch in a sedan (lesson learned) I doubt it will be covered, chances are the person you bought it from abused the clutch enough that this might have been inherited

I understand that finding a wire harness can be difficult, but I suppose you could make one, or have one made, with a little bit of added difficulty. The installation was somewhat tedious, but not at all difficult. Using it is super easy and adds so much capability to the truck.

The 4x4 switching for me was needing to completely depress the clutch for high to low and back took me a bit used to my jeep with sticks. All the way to the metal, which is what the manual says, got concerned a little went from the dealer straight to the beach and couldn't get out of low, had togo to YouTube.
