Anyone use a Grit Guard in their wash bucket? I have never used one because my Tacoma stays on hard roads and I always rinse it off good before I start hand washing it. Never noticed any grit in the bottom of the bucket when I dump whats left of the soap. Also never noticed any micro scratches in my paint.

I use one. I always have grit.

There's no harm in using one but no need to if you don't have grit or scratches.

    Seems pretty straightforward

    100% yes.

I have 3, one in each; muck bucket, rinse bucket clean ONR bucket.

    Definitely helps.

I use a grit guard in both buckets and use the two bucket method. I was amazed at the amount of dirt that was in both when I was done washing my truck.

i have one for each bucket cus i got em on the cheap, package deal from Chem Guys. i can't say i really care that much about this level of detail for my truck's paint, but yes those things trap a ton of grit/liquid sandpaper. so i use them when i wash my truck once or twice a year.

    Yup, I use one too.

However, I'll say that I also don't leave the wash mitt in the bucket either. I wash the whole vehicle at once. So it wouldn't sit in the grit at the bottom of the bucket anyway.

    Cheap insurance though imo.

I don't know of any significant reason not to use one.

I do the same. I ordered a grit guard so I guess it will be a little insurance.

Since you need to wash the mitt or towels after I just use more mitts and one bucket with no grit guard. Mitt doesn't go back into the soap bucket.

My cheapo Wally world bucket came with one, so I have one. I don't wash my trucks much if ever though by hand

Every time, with microfiber mitt or the brush. Never ceases to amaze me how much crap it traps.

I bought the grit guard but have not had to wash my truck. And I just got a Montana 10" Boar's Hair brush I'm going to use with the grit guard Monday morning. Like to wash my truck on a weekday 1st thing in the morning at the self serve car wash because it is less busy and I can dry my truck in the bay before driving off.

Surprised how soft these animal bristles are. (Nothing like my Boar bristle shaving brush)
Bought my wash brush 2 weeks ago and caught a sell. 25% off & free shipping. :)

Some of those natural bristles are amazing. Looks like a solid setup and excuse to get your truck dirty this weekend. What sold you on that brush in particular?

I went with a 14" multi level nog hair brush (synthetic) that's pretty soft.

I started to pop on that brush but I went with this one because this old fellow I see at the carwash uses one and he really likes it. He does like myself and dries his truck off out in the parking lot or wash bay before he leaves. A month or so ago I was talking with him about it and asked if he saw any scratches in his paint, (I had already looked) and he said, "No." He went on to tell me where most people that write bad reviews on these brushes is that they apply allot of pressure on the brush. I'm going to use mine without a handle to start with. It fits nicely in my hand. He also mentioned letting it soak in the soapy water for 5 minutes or so. I live about 2 miles from the carwash so I'll put it in the bucket of soapy water as soon as I get it ready. Looking forward to using it. Been using a chenille wash pad for 5 years and during the winter I have a nylon brush that is a good one. Doubt I'll use it anymore as much coin as I spent on this brush. lol

Yeah, a lot of people don't understand the ends of the bristles do the work, and you're trying to gently brush stuff off, not scrub it in. The shafts of the bristles don't do much of anything.

That's a really nice looking brush. I like the quarter hedgehog form factor as it takes less wrist/shoulder motion and provides more brush end to get into the crevices.

I've got a microfiber finger wash sponge but it tends to trap and hold stuff in it. It also gets torn up on the taco's mirror mounts and leaves green fuzz.

Looks like a great buy on your part.
