    So it's an 2006 2.7L, 4wd manual transmission.....

Seems both my reverse lights quit working. I'm not getting power to the tail light with the transmission in reverse.

I'm trying to locate the back up switch. I already ordered a new one. It's not hear yet. I know the switch is located somewhere on my transmission housing.

    Anyone know specific locations?

There is a switch on the passenger side about midway down the transmission that I think could be it...but I'm not certain.

    Diagrams would be appreciated.

    Looks like that's it.

To quickly check if its the switch, disconnect the switch, and simply jump the pins with a paper clip, if the reverse lights come on, its 100% the switch.

If the fuse was blown you'd lose a lot of other functions so it's less likely. The schematic is great that dm93 supplied.

DM93.... Thanks so much! That confirmed my suspicion! I am getting power to the switch per my test light but none to either tail light assembly on the reverse wires so I assume the switch is the likely culprit.

I ordered the replacement switch and it should arrive tomorrow. I'll post again to close the loop.
Fortunately it's easy to get to.

    Thanks again for your help!

Bishop, good point about bypassing the switch!..I'll try that just to confirm I didn't have a rodent chew through a wire.

DM93 and Bishop....thanks again...I bypassed the switch and both reverse lights lit up. It's nice now to have confirmed the problem.

It's also nice to know the part is easy to access.... shouldn't take but a few moments and a single wrench.

You could back probe the red/white coming out of the switch while you’re in reverse if you want to confirm it 100%.

But I’d say it’s likely the switch.

Don't forget to install the gasket as the switch won't work properly without it.
