    Hey Ya'll,
I just bought a 2019 Tacoma TRD Sport and really like the TRD Pro Heritage Grille. I've heard that it's not a great idea to put the Heritage grille on the TRD Sport due to it messing with the sensors. Is this true or a bunch of BS? I would really like to install the Heritage grille as it completely changes and improves the look of the truck.
    Thank you.

I guess. The dealer said they won't do it because it could mess with the "sensors". If that's untrue I'll definitely try and swap out my stock grill for the Heritage grille myself.

Quicksand with hood protector, color matching decals on tailgate latch, mudflaps, glovebox, and tailgate hitch cover.
I swapped it out about a week after I got mine this past April. And yes, every once in a while, the PCS OFF light would light on in the dash, and stay on, even though the PCS system was ON in the menu. Once the engine is turned off and back on, the light goes back out again, and only comes on a couple of weeks later or so, for no apparent reason. FINALLY, another guy on here, came up with a solution that has so far, worked perfectly and it made sense. He installed a couple of thin washers in front of the top screw on the sensor, to give it a very slight angle, more to where it would have been in the OEM grill. So far, this has worked and my PCS OFF light has not come on since I did the same thing, by installing in my case, 3 very thin washers in the same place. Very small price to pay to have such an awesome grill, instead of that OEM "chicken wire" grill! I get SO many compliments when they see mine, but probably because I added the hood deflector and the contrast just really "pops" and makes the front of mine look really good. I know, this is subjective to opinion, and a lot of guys say that so many have swapped out their OEM grills that the new Pro grills are commonplace. I guess it depends on where you live, but I haven't seen ANY others with the Pro grill on a TRD Sport, as I have done, except in pics. Just so you know, the swap is REALLY EASY, and even taking my time, I did the whole thing in 20 minutes.

I've got a 19 sport, and I too want that grill. Did you get one? I haven't contacted dealer yet to see if they'll install and guarantee yet.

Thank you for all the comments and advice. Picking the truck up tonight from the dealer. Will be putting on the Pro Grill and black fender flares very soon. Should all look really sharp with the quicksand color.

Save yourself a bundle and get the knockoff grill and get as little from the stealership as possible. I got this one for $100 and spent the leftover for paint and 3mEA9F519D-8BBF-422A-9BCE-6F5FFD506B28.jpg

OP, you just need to swap dealers, that’s all.

    Good luck.

Got it installed folks. Was pretty easy and looks way better than the old stock grille.

Hey there, I was just wondering if you figured it out. I read threads and saw mention of something on Ebay that fixes the sensor issue (a garnish). But the link is too old. Did you get this? Can you tell me exactly what I need to look for? Thanks so much.

I put one on my 2018 sport right after I bought it. It’s been on there for 3 1/2 years now with no issues. I also have a 2 1/2 lift on my truck.
I did have an issue when I first installed it. It’s not an OEM grill and the sensor was not fitting flat or flush inside the grill. I just took some sandpaper and smoothed out the sides that hold the sensor. Works awesome after that.

    Hey[/QUOTE]
    What yea
The garnish wont ‘fix’ any issues but will prevent them. Its required if your Tacoma has a TSS sensor. The Toyota emblem on stock grilles doubles as a TSS shield from the elements.

On the Heritage/ Pro grille there is no emblem, and the grille has a hole that the sensor works through. The garnish is simply a thin piece of plastic that covers the hole. It’s mandatory that you use a garnish to keep the sensor from being exposed and getting bad readings.

The OE grille is sold separately from the garnish, but they are both needed. Some aftermarket grilles will include the garnish .

I bought a grill from Madhornets with the garnish to cover the sensor for my 21 Tacoma. Zero problems and been on since March.
