Seeking Input on Dobinson Heavy Duty Leaf Springs

Bumping an old thread for some input/help. Installing now and the new dobinsons bushings for the shackles are thicker than the OME ones I’m replacing. Having trouble getting the shackle back into position to slide the bolt through. Any help is appreciated!

Looks like the sleeve of the old bushing is still in the shackle. See here

New sleeve was in, I just needed to press the new bushing and sleeve into the shackle better. Used my bench vice to accomplish this and all set. These springs are awesome. Exactly what I needed with all my added weight.

I know i'm a little late to the party, but i'm about to drop about $3300 on my new dobinsons suspension, just have 1 question....i really CANNOT decide between the 600# or 800# leaf pack for the back of the taco.....i'll have a RTT on there once in a while, but mainly i'm running around with about 100 to 200 pounds of constant weight in the back....the guy doing the install said the 800s would be good to go, and that everyone who got the 600s wish they got the 800s....seeing that 80% of the time i'm going to be driving with like i said only 100 to 200 pounds, i don't want a stiffer ride then the OEM toyota stuff that's on there now.....and i forgot to mention, MAYBE 1 or 2 times a year i have to haul a pallet of tile that's anywhere from 600 to 1000 pounds (that's what initially flattened my OEM leaf springs).....any quick answers would be appreciate gentlemen...thank you!!

 

Even the standard weight rear Dobinsons springs are stiffer than OEM, so you should definitely NOT be putting heavy constant load springs on if you don't have a heavy constant load. It's pretty simple. You wouldn't wear size 40 jeans if you're a size 32. There are options for a reason.

Go with the 111R's, and then add an extra leaf to them later IF you ever need it, but I doubt you would.

Sounds like he was just trying to upsell you to get some extra money.

 

Actually he gave me the same price for both the 600 and 800 leaf kit....that's why i was curious as to peoples opinions on the matter...you didn't need to break it down with the whole jean sizing analogy like i'm 5 years old lol....but i do appreciate the quick response!....and i was more worried about dropping that pallet of tile on the 600# leafs, and then them not rebounding to their original shape like the OEMs did

 

I've got just the 110R's and with the Diamondback cover and bed mat, I technically should have over 100lbs of constant weight back there. I can't imagine going with an even stiffer spring when that's how I'm driving 95% of the time.

Even with the 110R's, I can throw a few hundred pounds of rock in the back and they hardly sag at all.

Even when I'm doing a short drive with my 5000lb GVWR trailer attached without the weight distribution bars, the springs hold up pretty well to all of that tongue weight.
