I’m looking to upgrade my speakers. I’m running an Alpine KTP-445U amp and a Pioneer DMH-4660NEX headunit. Currently looking at the Infinity REF-9630cx because it looks like they can handle decent power and on Amazon it’s going for $170 for the front and rear set. Also looking at JL C1-690. Does anyone have personal experiences with these speakers? Any other recommendations? I’m looking for something with good bass.

I should add that the set on Amazon the rear speakers in the set are REF-6532ix

I'm running Audio Frogs. Don't have the model numbers handy. Stock head unit into a Memphis Audio line amp into a Sony DSP amp and then microphone tuned for sound stage and imaging

What are your listening tastes? I ask because you’ve got two different styles of tweeter in your choices. The aluminum tweeter in the Infinity speaker will sound “brighter” or sharper in comparison to the JL C series with the silk tweeter. That’s just something to consider.

Another thing is power handling. Just because the Infinity set can handle more doesn’t make them better. You need to take into consideration the power you have on hand to know the best match.

For me, I’m batting around two 6 1/2” sets. The Focal PS 165FXE and the Morel Tempo 602MkII. What’s got me is the tweeter material.

I'm currently running four of these in my DCSB. Sound is decent.
    Disconnected tweeter.

In for details. I want to redo my speakers and use new tweeters, and new lowers if necessary.

Mainly listen to hip-hop/rap that’s why I’m looking for more bass. But I have a wide variety of music playlists and listen to country and pretty every other genre too. I’m not completely sure on how much RMS I have but I’m pretty sure the Alpine amp is 45 and my headunit has a built in amp too.

Okay, I’ll probably look for something else then. I want this to be my last time changing out the speakers.

So this thread, like many, just cost me a few bucks.

I installed four Infinity Reference REF 6532 in the front and rear lower, this caused me to bypass the OEM tweeter. With my new Kenwood unit, I wanted to have the component units back up front, like my RAV4 upgrade.
So, I called Crutchfield. I ordered a set of Alpine S-S65C components, front woofer and tweeter. I'll just rewire the tweeter I bypassed and plug and play this set.

ETA: I have read good things about the Kickers. OP, how about a sub?

Hey OP! You should call Crutchfield on Monday. They’ll give you better answers than us! Happy Listening!

I have this one. It’s way over priced atm. You can’t put anything under the passenger seat, just driver. This isn’t for bass just mid range fill in. Also you’ll need this if your using the factory headunit

Add An Amp Amplifier Adapter Interface to Factory OEM Car Stereo Radio System for Select Vehicles - Add Subwoofer Bass Amp etc.- No Factory Premium Amp- Compatible Vehicles listed below https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CQUL240

Alpine Electronics PWE-S8 Restyle Compact Powered 8-Inch Subwoofer , black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OYGGMXK

Also I did this upgrade & it’s solid

Why can’t you put anything under the passenger seat? It’s a simple modification to change that. Pull the seat out, the bar at the back can be rotated up. 2 T25(I think) Torx screws on each side, rotate and re-attach. Frees up 3/4” easy.

I just installed the kicker KCs front with crossovers, and the back component 6.5”, all with the key 200.4. The setup is fire. Not plug and play like the popular kickers, but definitely an instance of, “You get what you pay for.”Hardly even need a sub (subjective, of course).

The KS series you installed. The version with traditional tweeters, or the 2.75” mid/tweeters?

Same ones I’m rocking right now. Still debating between some Focal and Morel components next. It never ends.

If you want loud + body shaking mid bass, go with Deaf Bonce. I’m installing their Sylvester 8s and 6.5s soon, but they sounded amazing in my buddy’s ride.

I install Morel, Hertz and Audison. You get what you pay for in life.

Put JL's in the truck and I'm quite happy with them. If you want results, start with sound deadener.
