Okay so I’ve done this on 2 different occasions, electric goes out, I plug my coffee maker into my Tacoma outlet and it does not run the coffee maker. I then realize it does not provide enough amps. Now the funny thing is when I try taking the coffee maker back in the house and plug it into a regular outlet it no longer works??‍♀️

Have you tried multiple house outlets? Its possible that an underamped draw burned out your coffee maker. Its rare, but possible.

is the coffee maker digital? I think it would be rare, but your truck power is not only underpowered, but dirty. its a modified sine wave, as opposed to house power which is pure sine. People plug plenty into modified sine inverters without issue, but just a thought.

Did you buy a new coffee maker the first time it happened?
Or did it start working on its own again?

What kind of coffee maker is it?

It could be that the lack of amps caused something in the coffee maker to overheat, perhaps? It was struggling to run and that could cause heat and then burn out some functional component.

What you’ve experienced is common with batteries and power outlets tied to them — which is making sure that there are enough amps.

I’m with you on wanting an electric coffee maker for camping. Other methods can be a PITA. The most popular one I know of that is lower wattage is this model, but I don’t know if it will work with the tacoma outlet. It is 550 watts:

The stock inverter in the Tacoma is only rated to 400 Watts.

A typical 12 cup coffee maker requires in the neighborhood of 750-1200 Watts.

If your coffee maker has anything beyond a basic on/off rocker switch for controls, it's digital. Using it on the 400w inverter probably damaged it.
