Icon Alloys Rebound Pro 17x8.5 0 off set with Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T 265/70R17 (Load XL) Revolver X4s Tonneau Cover
So I have a '17 TRD OR. I put on new 17x8.5 Satin Black Wheel Icon Alloys Rebound Pro 6x5.5 0 off set wrapped in 265/70R17 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T All Terrain. Didn't have to do any trimming of any sorts at first. But i've noticed at full clock to the left and if I happen to hit a dip just right I rub on the UCA (you could see the clean spot not very big from the tire)

I got an alignment done and we were coming home. And as my wife was pulling out of a parking spot on all but flat ground but turning sharp left we heard a slapping/banging sound on the passenger floorboard. That's since gone away (never heard it again as of now) but it does seem like that left turn now rub's a bit more when I hit dips, but I will say i'm some what of an aggressive driver and I might be listening for it more.PXL_20220617_190141060.jpg PXL_20220617_190154056.jpg

The tread might have caught the very edge of the wheel well liner. Surprised you are (or did) rub the UCA though.

So what it almost looks like, is my tire get's under the UCA just a smidge. But it's def just barely rubbing. Next time it does it i'll see if I can get in a safe spot and get pictures. I did a ton of research before I got these and it didn't happen right out of the gate. Truck has just over 60k mileage.

Hey Darkyota, I like those wheels. My truck is a 2015 TRDOR
I just realized you were rubbing on your UCA's. So it may be a different issue..
I have 17x8.5" Icon Alpha Satin Black Wheels, 6x5.5 Bolt Pattern, 4.75" Backspace, 0mm Offset. My tires are 285/70/17's. I think all you need to do is do some trimming on you fenders, I see the outside is maybe rubbing on full lock. If you plan on bigger tires I would think about a lift and BMC and trim your fenders.

I’m no expert on tire fitting, but what I see is that you have a tire with stock width (265mm) on a wheel that has 1.5” more width and 0.5” more backspacing (please fact check me) than a stock wheel. This might lead to some rubbing on the UCA. You might need to get different wheels, skinnier tires, or a wheel spacer.

Thanks, I've had my daughter climb in and clock the tires both way's and can stick my fat hand between the tire and both front and back part of the fenders. But that's not to say when I hit something hard enough it's not jamming. Guess worse case scenario it'll eventually pull something away. I def plan on lifting and going to 285's like you and eventually doing all that cutting. Got a few HC bumper's i'm diggin.

Ya, of all the places I thought that was the strangest part is seeing the rub on the UCA. I'll take it out to a rough area and chalk the tires up and hit some decent dips to see if I can get it to mark the spots.

You'll need to let someone else drive while you walk around and watch.

They'll do weird things, like only rub in reverse at full lock going downhill on left turns etc...

It likely would have been a shoe in if you had used stock wheels. There’s more to consider than tire size.

My personal experience is that I have 33’s on stock wheels with no rubbing or trimming (255/85r16).

For sure, nice thing is, it only does it when i'm aggressive. So highway driving and normal city driving is good.
