‘09 Taco turns over then stalls

2009 Tacoma

4L V-6, this has happened once before, but after a few minutes engine caught and ran fine. Till now. Engine cranks, catches very briefly and then dies. Whiff of gas afterwards. Stepped hard on gas pedal hoping that might shut off fuel pump if that was an issue. No change. And of course now I’m stuck on a remote 2 track logging road and had to hike out. Anyone else with this issue? With the exception of the remote location.

First thing to check is if your security light is flashing with the key on.
If that's fine you need to check for codes.
