    Hello everyone,

I plan on installing the Puddle Light kit from Mesocustoms.com soon. I did opt-in for the switch so I can manually control it. The problem is, it is a small switch and not a tall one and I only have a tall switch slot available on my truck. I have to use the small switch included with it because it gives me the ability to set the modes (on, auto, off). I do not plan on adding more switches so I don’t want to add more slots than I already have. I understand there are small to tall switch slot conversion adapters but I want to try this idea first before I find another solution.

I am thinking about replacing the 3rd gen 400w small switch with the 2nd gen 400w tall switch to free up a small slot for the Puddle Light switch (reference the picture attached). I would absolutely prefer it to be that way because it would feel like everything is in the right place. Light controls next to each other, then the bigger outlet switch that has nothing to do with lighting. I really like that setup.

My question is, is this doable? That 2nd gen 400w tall switch should fit perfectly in that vacant tall slot right? Then with the wiring - I’m sure the cable connector is different but I do know a thing or two about electrical. I could identify the corresponding pins and make a safe custom cable connector. I know 3rd gen switch says “AC 120v” and 2nd gen switch says “AC 115V” but that shouldn’t matter.

What do you guys think? Thanks :)

Im sure its doable, might even be the same plug already. But for the simple cheap route ask yourself this question.... how many times have you pushed the "auto highbeam" switch? Just remove that switch, tuck the wires back and now you have a open spot and didnt lose anything useful.

Sounds like it would work but you won't know until you try it.

On a manual transmission truck, that slot would be taken up by the "Clutch Start Cancel" switch.
