The Toyota Manuel is what I am following is the recommendations. As for the not more then 25 miles per hour, was from a 4x4 article on lockers and limited slips.

That is why I am disappointed in Toyota lockers , it says to stay under 5 mph, and dis-engage when free.
I wish it allows full lock the minute I am on the dirt, gravel, and sand roads. And be able to drive at a faster speed .

Your truck looks like a older model and it can add the many of the aftermarket lockers, and LSD systems. The TRD off roads and the pro systems , we are struck (no pun intended) .
The lower end Tacomas have more options like a air locker in front or a Truetrac.that can be added in the front diffs.

Yes my knowledge on lockers is limited (no pun intended). After watching a few videos about lockers was interesting. And a good learning experience.

Watching a engineer test the Rivian 4x4 system, and compares to everything on the market, The Rivian is the ultimate! On 4x4 off roading , no one can beat there 4X system. Best to watch for one self.

Since the 80’s all my 4x4’s had some kind of LSD, I may not know the inner workings, but I do know it always perform well for me. And I will never buy a 4x4 with out a LSD, unless I know I can add one.

There was a great video on you tube explaining the inner workings of lockers and LSDs and Spools.
The manual OX lockers , after seeing pictures of these knobs in some 4x4s. I never knew what they were for. Now I know.

After watching the many videos on this topic, the ARB and Yukon air lockers looks out standing. As for the LSDs the TrueTrac or gear running LSD is consider a better then the cutch systems. They say cutches need to be replace after 20,000. + miles.
The Torsion system is use in every military trucks today, the gears last for ever. Way longer then cutches.
They many videos mention to touch the brakes to engage the LSD? I learn this applies to the gear LSD systems, does not work well for the cutch LSD system. Gears or Truetrac if one tire is off the ground and spinning , this is when pressing the brakes cause it to engage the locking mechanism.

Detroit lockers have there place and purpose.
Please do your own research .
