It’s not the size of your bed, it’s how you use it ;).

One time on a 4 hour trip I forgot to secure a hand truck I had in my bed and the whole way home it was sliding between my tailgate and the front of the bed. I could hear it back there the whole way home. Not even a scratch on the bed when I got home.

I’ve hauled lumber, trash, scrap metal, fishing stuff, kayaks, bikes, tools, and used my tailgate as a work surface too many times to count and it’s never failed me.

When someone says they need a bigger truck, 4 times out of 5 what they really need is some creativity.

Now a 6 foot bed is considered a long bed. My AC has a 6 foot bed.

There has been times I missed a real 8 foot long bed. Put the tailgate down and you had 10 foot of bed space. Great for hauling 16 foot deck boards.

My boys and I hauled 3 storage units full of stuff from our old home, into our new place all with the dclb. I hate moving too, but agree with the other poster who said they trailer things instead. Maybe next time I'll trailer everything (and hopefully "next time" isn't any time soon).

I thought I was doing pretty good, until now. I'll bet I never get the satisfaction of going to a car wash called the "Mighty Beaver."

    Dammit.

I see this fairly new Pro in the Lowe’s parking lot all the time, by the tools in the back the guy must be a tile setter and this truck is just beat to shit, dented, covered in that tile cutting residue etc.. I cringe every time I see it.

There are trucks and then there are trucks. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I love my Tacoma truck and it serves my needs perfectly. Your needs are probably different than mine.

I wouldn’t trade my Tacoma for any other truck. I bought what I wanted. Now if I ever decide I need to start hauling a ton of large items, I might feel differently. Until then, if it won’t fit in the truck, I can rent a Uhaul trailer, for a day, fairly cheap. That being said, I’ve never needed to do that.

Everyone has different wants and needs. Always get what fits your personal needs. You are the one that has to drive it, be it a Tacoma, a GMC, a Buick or a Yugo. That being said, there are certain makes and models that require automatic forfeiture, of your man card. No questions asked. No explanations accepted. Lol

I was hauling dirt that was very wet and severely underestimated its weight. I hopped out of the truck and had it weighed at a truck stop. 12660 pounds total weight. I went back to where i got the dirt and took about 25 % out and brought it 40 miles home. After seeing how well she hauled it i could have brought the whole load home. But if i was pulled over by troopers and weighed i would have had to pay a big fine. 2021 v6 sr5 longbed did a really good job. B8B14F1C-F3B7-48B4-B235-CDB58298F4DC.jpg

Imagine being on a civic or corolla site and some dude come up saying his Tacoma is not usable right now and complaining his car can't do the same a his Tacoma.

    Crazy right?

3/4 ton vs 1/4 ton dude.

Edit: also your bed is 5 foot not 5.5.

Funny you mention lowes. I was there the other day and picked up some drainage pipe. While going back to my truck, this small nissan van with ny plates nearly runs me over then pulls up next to my truck nearly taking that out to. This guy stagers out the door with pillows of smoke pouring out the van around him. I get one heavy wiff, and start to feel light headed. Friggin rest of the parking lot started smelling like a pot factory was nearby. It was like being in a cheech and chong movie.
