Purchased spc hydraulic bump stops secondhand from someone on here for my 3rd gen

Trying to figure out how the adjustment logic. Has a set screw for compression and rebound however its just an in and out set screw with no tactile feel. Also they seem far away from my strike plate in comparison to other peoples set up. Can you lower the shocks at all? Whats the proper distance
