We had a horrible drive back from the OBX last week, a 6 hour drive with normal traffic turned into a 9 hour drive because of traffic and storms that we only had to briefly drive through.

Fortunately it was nice out for 90% of the drive so the dogs got 9 hours of window time and then slept for a few days after haha

The wife thinks I’m insane now because I enjoyed every minute of it since I was driving the taco lol

I dont miss that Baltimore traffic at all. Since I moved here to WV no more traffic for me. 35min commute to work and not one traffic light, just 2 stop signs. Town of Great Cacapon where I live now doesn't even have a traffic light lol.

How often do you stop for the dogs on a trip that long for potty breaks?

Oh, it didn't take the trip to convince her :boink:

We normally stop every 2-3 hours.

Usually they’re just relaxing in the back seat and it’s one of us that has to stop to pee first lol

We’re trying to learn better water drinking discipline because that many stops won’t be practical on our trip to Montana next year haha

A few but I'm in the dark with the timing belt so it's in the shop getting that done along with a few other things. Just an all around tune up. Getting the valve cover gaskets done as well. Will ask about getting the valve clearances checked while he's at it. Needed ball joints too.

Truck had a new battery, cats and exhaust system, and a few other things.

Very nice. Water pump too, I hope?
I changed my T-belt/water pump at 240K and I was still rocking the OEM WP. Wasn’t leaking or anything, which was sweet. VCG’s are always nice to have replaced along with the other little things like spark plug tube seals, half moons, PCV valve and grommet, etc.

with new cats, hopefully you won’t have any P0420 cancer…

We just always wonder in case we want to go somewhere. We figured OC in a single stretch would be about the max (3.5 hrs). Not that were doing it any time soon. But we've discussed it. Thanks.

It's a warm up for you when you get to deal with I-95, baltimore beltway ( I-695) or I-83 rush hour traffic. I hope that the rest of the trip went smoother.
Sounds like you got a good buy on that one.

made it! The truck didn't much like going over some of the passes in PA - spent some time in 2nd gear and 45mph-ish at times. That said, this old truck seems to never quit - i am really proud of it; carrying 5 tons 1400 miles; even at 8-10mpg.

Well, I will do what i can to keep away from that area; looking to live on-base; so maybe 2-3 mile commute for me for the foreseeable future.

Oh - and my Vizsla and Beagle-thing did PERFECTLY on this trip - as they tend to do, I suppose. I let them out 2-3 times per day at various gas stops; and they'd sleep most of the time. Every couple hours my Vizsla would put her head/snout on my shoulder as I drove...but no fuss whatsoever from either of them.
