Pixeltim's Cargo to Camper build

Discussion in 'Mid West' started by Pixeltim, May 12, 2022.

?

Should I leave the exterior alone as a theft deterrent or either clean it up or do a vehicle wrap?

  1. Leave it Ghetto.

  2. Buff it out, dumbass!

  3. Full vehicle wrap with eagles, American flags and AR-15s.

  4. Full stealth cammo vehicle wrap.

  5. Let Tacomaworld viewers decide on a wrap design.

Things have been going a bit slow with an upcoming vacation, but I am making progress on the back door, and the door being inset into it.
Now that I have it this far, progress should happen much faster!

With a major burst of energy this weekend, I finally finished the rear door replacement with the inset camper door. Now to install it, hopefully tonight.

    Friday afternoon Trailer building:
Tore out the old rotting plywood, cut and dominoed the replacement wood, then played around with the teak hardwood flooring I found for a steal at the Habitat ReStore!

Flooring is done and I didn’t muck it all up!

I sprayed the frame with rust oleum rust converter after taking wire wheels to it.

    4DEEA997-37FB-4BA9-A048-ED3881763C9E.jpg

Then sprayed undercoating to the bottom of the flooring plywood.

    Installed the plywood.

Fast forward a week while I cut new tongues in half the flooring to be able to do the herringbone (sorta) pattern.

Then messed around to get the right placement for the starter row.

I may have missed it, but a fan up top for air flow and to draw away hot air in the summer would be clutch!

Looking real nice by the way.

Thanks! I’m planning on installing a 5k btu window air conditioner in the front and trying to decide if that’s enough, or if I should do the fan too. My one issue with the rooftop fans is that some of them leak. That would suck.

ETA: everyone that I know that has has trailers agree that the fan is ideal. I guess I'll have to go with that too.

This weekend I thought I'd polish it up to see if the finish was acceptable.
It will never be a show piece, but at least it won't be too embarrassing!
Then it was insulation time. That went far faster than I had expected.
    Now to install the windows!
Once the windows are in, it'll be ready for a test run.
If it's just too hot, then the fan is next.
Then it's time to finish the front and ceiling too.
