SEATBELT LIGHT X2

I REMOVED BACKSEATS TO INSTALL SOUND DEADENING MATERIAL AND REMOVED FLOOR SEAT BELTS ONLY. NOW THE LIGHT IS ON WITH INSIGNIA SHOWING SEATBELTX2 BELOW STEREO TO THE RIGHT. I DID NOT MESS WITH ANY WIRES. I TOOK OFF NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL AND PUT IT BACK ON BUT LIGHT STILL SHOWS UP. HOW DO I GET RID OF THIS LIGHT. THANK YOU FOR ANY ADVICE.

Whoops! I was just stressing about this new truck. Trying to put in sound system and keep anyone from scratching my truck all up so I`m doing it myself with not too much experience. Sorry for the goof up.

 

YOU HAVE A 2022 MODEL THE SEATBELTS ARE TIED INTO THE BODY MODULE AND OR CANBUS SYSTEM MOST LIKELY YOU WILL EITHER NEED TO MAKE A RESISTOR THAT PLUGS INTO THE NOW OPEN CIRCUIT WHERE YOU REMOVED THEM TO SIMULATE IT FOR THE COMPUTER OR REINSTALL THE SEAT BELTS

Thank you so much! I can reinstall them but how does it know when there was no wires going to the floor seatbelts?

 

Either the computer is measuring the circuit resistance and or it's sending a safety pulse to know the circuit is complete, if it doesn't receive the right current from the pulse it knows the circuit is damaged if the resistance is infinite then it knows it's completely open and will set a DTC.

 

That totally makes sense. I knew I`d find expert help on the forum. Thank You so much! I`ll reinstall floor seat belt brackets to see if that will work cause I have no clue where to put a resistor.

 

Take the seatbelt that was removed use a multimeter to measure resistance (Ohms Ω) pin to pin on the seat belt assembly (if single wire it is then grounded through the anchor bolt measure pin to the anchor tab) then find a plug or make one (3D printing yay!) And wire in the resistor that matches the seatbelt resistance to complete the circuit either pin to pin or pin to chassis ground.

Boom, seatbelt sim.

Alternatively you can try seeing if using a spade connector and sliding it onto the factory pin and placing the bare copper of the other end to the other pin if it's there or straight to chassis ground (bolt location) will work but if it's a smart system there will be no load this way and you may blow a fuse. If it's a dumb system it will see the circuit is complete and should clear the belt code.

I had the bolt in when the sensor came on. I`m wondering if there is some kind of module in the seat belt female side that it has to be in proximity. Ill have to find someone that is more knowledgeable with electrical to assist with the multi meter cause I`m just a floor installer but I appreciate all the advice for sure! I`ll learn eventually.

 

Proximity? I highly doubt it, typically the only thing that uses a proximity transponder is the key in the ignition system, the complexity and costs there just wouldn't be effective for something like that for a major manufacturer.

The meter thing is easy on vehicles; DC low voltage. (Direct current/ angry pixies only run one way and they're not too hungry.)

It's when you're playing with AC or high voltage then you can get really hurt. (Alternating current, angry pixies dance back and forth and have sharper teeth, typically they're pretty hungry and bite harder.)

 

It worked and turned off the light when I put seatbelts back in. I just wish the bolt only in there would turn the light off. I`m kinda confused which is easy to do
