I’m surprised how inactive this thread has become.
Are there less and less limiteds out there.
    Why?
Also is there a non TRD limited?
Seems to be some confusion out there.

The TRD Limited was my first choice.
It’s not hard core off road or cutting the curves sport. It’s a comfortable and Classy pick up with just about every creature comfort Toyota has available.
    Comfortable and functional.
So why is it so overlooked? Or is it?

For the Tacoma, the Limited and TRD are separate trims and you can't get a TRD Limited. You can get a Limited with the TRD package on a Tundra however.

There are some decals you can get that say 'TRD 4x4 Limited' but that doesnt mean it's a TRD. Limited doesn't have the option for the crawl control, though it does come with most of the high end interior upgrades.

I have a limited long bed and I love it. I think the reason it gets overlooked is because most Tacoma buyers want the off road capability. However, the stock 4x4 is a tremendous off road capable setup.

For me, I drive on paved roads 98% of the time, and on dirt roads 2% of the time during hunting season. I'd rather have the interior upgrades over the off road capability that I'd never really take advantage of. Plus, I wanted the Hickory interior. In my opinion, the limited is overlooked. But, for many, the cost doesn't justify it. Many would rather spend that money on off road capability.

I went with my Limited because it was much quicker to get vs waiting for a TRD-OR with the same options or TRD Pro.
Still took about 5 months from deposit to delivery. No regrets so far!

Towing capacity, yes. However, if I am not mistaken, the Limited trim has a lower payload. Payload on the Tacoma tends to be more of a limiting factor than towing capacity from what I've read. Here's an article that goes through the different trim levels in nice detail. Also note the Limited does come in a 6ft bed despite what the article states.

    https://empyreoffroad.com/blogs/resources/the-ultimate-guide-to-toyota-tacoma-trim-levels

"Let’s get this out of the way... This is still a very capable vehicle off-road and for utilitarian work because it is still a Tacoma, but let’s face it: most people getting this will see a gravel or grass parking lot at the most."

I choose Limited because it was cheaper. I was looking for a sport premium and the limited had everything the sport has for less plus those hickory seats. All of the ones I was looking at already had the bakflip installed. Almost as if it was a factory option. Took it to an OV park and this Taco can go anywhere I would dare to.

The payload is a little over 500 lbs less in the Limited then the TRD’s
But that’s with a stock suspension.
I don’t believe the factory lift kit adds anything to that because it’s simply a block in the back and not actual shock up grades (I am pretty sure about that)
I was going to put a lift in anyway so I’m thinking a quality Bilstein lift would be an excellent upgrade to the limited..2.5 to 3” max

:hattip:Very nice. How’d you black out your door handles? Debating wrapping them or trying plastidip.

Im pretty sure the 500lbs less payload has nothing to do with the suspension. There is a set amount of total weight that the base truck is rated for including the wieght of the truck itself. and as you add extra features, that the truck itself gets heavier and thus takes away from the spare weight capacity. I think the biggest weight contributor in the LTD trim is the moonroof, heated seats and dual zone climate control and JBL system probably add up to about 500lbs additional load. the moonroof alone probably accounts for the weight reduction due to the glass and the motor and support structure needed.

Where are you guys getting this info from? Payload for the Limited is virtually the same as TRD OR and Sport (4x4 V6 autos). They will all be around 1000 lbs according to door jamb sticker. Mine is 952 lbs. Way less than even the little Maverick lol.
