Hmm, there definitely was some of TC lock/unlock action going on. That would account for subtle couple of hundred rpms at ~2000 or so. Had bigger downshifts with engine speeds up to ~3000, drop to ~2500 and back down to ~1800-2000.
No, I don't log... Kinda wish I had. Maybe I'm expecting too much, or miracles from NA 3.5 on stock gears...

    How do ya'll log stuff??

Those kind of rpm swings do sound like shifts vs TC... This tune is settled and you reset learning values after flashing? Gear hunting isn't to be expected.

I flashed it as soon as I got it, have been running it for 8 days. It’s ridiculous. That’s the best way to describe it. Throttle response is amazing, and I was blown away with Nexus +P! Haven’t got a chance to tow yet. Mileage hasn’t been awesome, but it’s been raining heavy on n off at work, so lots of heavy mud action. And, heh, it’s been 8 days of rally driving with a shit eating grin on my face! My wife has also decided she will take my truck for errands.

Flashed mine from Nexus +P to Blackhawk on Friday, but since then I've only put 1/4 tank through it so the learned values haven't even settled yet. Initial impressions are great but I need to get a few tanks through it before posting a real update.

Yes, I did reset it (according to instructions).
I found it a bit weird, and it is even more pronounced when using cruise control. I wanted to see how it acts with cc, and on the hill it dropped from 6 straight down to 4 gear.
Like I said, my Taco is heavy, lifted and on 33s. I know I can't expect it to run like a hybrid racecar, so maybe I just need to lower my expectations a bit until I get it regeared.

What do you use to log (and what do you log)?

Anyone else received this message when trying to flash? VFTuner keeps giving me a message saying "This file is VIN locked. You must use it only for flashing the appropriate vehicle".

Offhand, sounds like you're trying to open the file in VFTuner itself, instead of the flash utility launched from within VFTuner (made that mistake once before when I hadn't flashed my truck in a while and forgot).

It has been awhile and I'm a bit rusty here... What version of VFTuner are you running? I'm wondering if I need to update.

This is where I perform the flash correct? The 'prepare ecm' looks like it works, but then after a few seconds I get this message saying it timed out and to be on the latest version of the software.

Here is my observation and the reason why you see this event.
AD version. When you are in 6th on inclines, you are operating around 100% of the engine load. Also there is a huge throttle amplifying factor in higher gears (approximately x1.7).

Most like your downshift to 5th caused by reaching the engine load limits , then the trottle limits in 5th gear caused the engine to reach the load limits again or reaching the shift points.

    Awful quiet around here......

I just loaded up Blackhawk today (WW file which is lesser tip-in I believe) after being on Nexus +P for a few months. Obviously the 15 miles I've put on it aren't going to give a great picture of how it runs yet, especially with resetting everything. However, I will say that these first few miles have felt better than when I first loaded up +P. I was even able to rooster tail coming around the corner in my driveway (more torques :muscleflexing:).

I'll post another update once things settle in but feels good so far.

On another note, I want to give props to the Nexus team for their customer service. When they released Blackhawk, I received an email with the updated tune file which was tailored for my truck (AGM battery, etc.). This is a nice way of going about it, as opposed to waiting for people ask for the update and then losing emails and pissing people off (company which shall not be named). Keep up the good work, it's much appreciated!

Just got my files. Asking the question publicly so it’s here for everyone to reference. I didn’t see it clearly outlined anywhere in the thread.

What are specific differences between the AD and WW files?

In general, AD has an aggressive throttle response. WW is more mellow. Try both to see what you like.

I have also been told that the ECT button is there when you wanna have some fun.

@Maxx, just a heads up, both files are quite a bit touchier than Nexus was. I'm still having a bit of trouble at times getting used to it.

You can always request to have a Nexus tip version if you'd like. Just shoot an email or message to who sent you your files (since the VIN lock files are only editable by whoever created your TP).
