We received some heavy rain and i had water leaking under the dash. It also seemed my fan was not able to put out as much as it normally would.

Is this a sign of ac drain clog? I inspected the drain and there was no clog. Could it be higher up in the fire wall? If I have a deeper clog (in firewall) what is best way to unclog?

Mine might be plugged because I never saw any water on the concrete under my truck last summer. Probably will take it to the dealership this spring. We had one day already that was 70 degrees out and I turned it on for the 1st time this year and the mildew smell coming out of the vents was strong for maybe 20 to 30 seconds then it was gone.

In my prior 2009 I had the AC drain clog up twice over the years. The first time it must have caused ice to build up on the evaporator and blower when I was driving because I started to hear a high-pitched squealing/scraping noise. I shut the AC off, and after the apparent ice melted the noise was gone. There was also wet carpet on the passenger side after this. The cure was... I looked under the truck and found the end of the drain tube, then blew a few short bursts of air into it with my compressor. That fixed everything for about two years and then I did it again. The second time around I never did hear the noise or get wet carpet, but I noticed that no water was dripping under the truck in the sub-tropical climate I live in . . .

Old thread, but had the same thing happen this afternoon. Realized it was a plugged drain fairly fast, but the noise was a new one for me. It only happened when braking or turning left though...

As best as I can recall, when I heard the noise it was constant. Turning or braking made no difference. But that was like 10 or 12 years ago . . .
