Can/ should i run a pair of Ctsounds 6.5" Subwoofers for midbass duty? I have a DSP comming so ill be able to correctly cross them. Would that give a more "full/complete" sound stage? Or will the setup i have right now, tuned on the DSP, be good with out the 6.5" subs? Can the Polk 6.5s cover the entire range from the low to the high range? And since ive got the tweets, should i throw them in also? The Polks are the MM1 component set fyi.

    So im running -
    2x 3.5" Dayton rs75's in oem tweeter/fullrange location
2x 6.5" Polk MM1's in oem bottom door speaker location
1x 8" Ampere RVE 2.5 in diy center console enclouser @36hz

    Thank you

They do make dedicated midbass drivers :)

You really need to treat your doors though and feed them the power they need to get good results.

Yah i went through the trouble of making enclousers for the 6.5" subs and adding them to the setup. Sounded shitty. The 6.5's subs sounded to close to the 8, it actually made a big gap in trying to blend e erything. So maybe when i want something different ill just swap the subs.
Ill stick with how ive got it and work on tueing better.

You could get away with 6.5" subs if you're running a full range driver as your tweeter. Meaning, you can cut off the sub before it gets out of its usable passband because the midrange/fullrange can play low enough to cover the gap.

That being said, you will need serious DSP for this sort of thing and even then may have limited success. With those fullrange drivers being off-axis they will not be very good for tweeters more than likely.

If it were me, I'd look for a beefy 6x9 driver with a high VAS to work as a strong midbass and then pair it with a low(ish) playing tweeter. The Morel Tempo Ultra component setup. Lots of cone area and a great tweeter up top. You can even run them active if you have the DSP to handle that sort of thing.

Ditch the Daytons, run the included Polk tweeters in the stock location, 6.5s in the front doors, leave the back doors alone.

What are you using for amps?

    Now that sub....why? Ported?
