I have an ‘03 with 240k. The frame has been changed before I bought it, and is decent. The left front cab mount has some bad rust along with and around the floor pan and rocker. I cut away most of the rusted sheet metal. I’d like to replace or fab a new bracket, but not sure what the part is called or a part#. It’s at the front side of the door. It’s not the bracket that’s welded to the frame, but a larger bracket that sits on top of the frame bracket, with the rubber bumper between. Also, will I need to loosen all the mounts to replace it. I hate to give up on the truck as the motor is good it’s a m/t manual windows locks etc and I really like it

That entire picture is a ''bad spot.''

You are at the end of that trucks life. Unless every where else is far FAR less rusty, that truck is scrapyard bound or a farm bomb.

The ONLY way you are ever going to fix that truck [remember, there is plenty more rust you DON'T see] is to take it off the road, strip it down to the frame and start sourcing new or junkyard good body parts. Figure about 5 times longer and 5 times more cost then you think. [and I'm being optimistic]

I'd personally try to source a complete cab with as much of the original electronics and wiring as possible and taken apart at the connections.

Anything can be fixed with enough time and money.

    The real question is:

How much time and money are you willing to invest?

Wow. Major rehab. Look into new replacement floor pan(s) and rocker(s).

That last pic has Rocker written on what is actually the frame. Not sure you realize that or maybe I'm misinterpreting what you're trying to point out. The rocker has mostly rusted away on the side you are showing and should look pretty different from what you are seeing. I would add more pictures of the underbody from further away to give others here a better sense of all that's going on. As much as I hate people going overboard talking about rust, this isn't looking great...

There was a tsb about water leaking from the front firewall at some point. Some had passenger, some drivers side. I got my truck and to my surprise when I popped up the carpet to clean, found a little rot like that. Luckily it wasnt nearly as bad as this, but I assume left alone it could be.

When I tubbed, I just came in more on that side to remove the bad spot..

If the frame has been replaced and in good shape as you say, you have an opportunity.

Find a truck with the body in nice shape and a rotted frame. Buy it cheap and swap the body onto your frame.

IMHO what you posted isn't worth trying to save.

With all the frame rot problems around, it would be probably easier to find a donor truck for a cab swap out than to try to repair that. It would be hard to find a sound spot to start back with that much rust. How is the rest of the cab and bed?

These trucks are weird how they rust. My '02 PreRunner has been in SE Wisconsin it's whole life. They use a LOT of salt around here. The frame has issues, mainly in the back under the bed, but the cab, doors, fenders, and bed look like it's lived in Central California the whole time.

All that crap can be patched and fixed, probably easier to pull the cab and do it all at once on a rotisserie. If you have the time, skill, and aren't too concerned about originality it isn't a real difficult job. The easy button is to find a cab that isn't rusted and swap it, or one that you can cut sections from for that side.

1A97A261-83A5-4002-A8E5-D44603429620.jpg Thanks for all the feedback guys. I just put the label on the frame so I could show the rocker better. Road salt is terrible, but my neighbor has an 02’ with a yearly application of bar and chain oil followed by a dirt road drive. No rust. I wish I’d had this one when new. Lol. Here’s a couple more pics of the ugliness. I thought if I can get something solid in that one corner I could build off that. I’ll check around for a whole cab , otherwise maybe I can get a couple years with some patching and rebuild of that mount. I double majored at cheap school and hard knocks.1CF2FCBC-735F-4347-870B-CD40C82428BB.jpg . Wider view
