Do people use the terms ‘level’ and ‘lift’ interchangeably? I’m having a kit installed that I was thinking was a lift (new Coilovers, rear shocks, UCA’s) and the guy at the off road store referred to it as a “level kit”.

Was this most likely a mistake or is there a big difference between the two?

It’s confusing for sure. There’s no official definition, but I think people generally mean “leveling kit” to mean a “lift kit” that makes the front and rear the same height. Other times I think people refer to a spacer lift as a “leveling kit”. It’s best to ask if you want to know for sure.

If you aren't adding rear leaf springs or blocks then it would be a leveling kit, lifting only the front end to match the stock height of the rear. A lift kit would include a rear lift and maintain some or all of the factory rake which is important for proper handling when the truck is loaded or towing.
