Hello! I bought a 2022 SR5 4x4 2.7l 4cyl Tacoma. I love the truck. But to put it simply it’s beating the living crap out of itself just to keep up in traffic. There’s a lot of symptoms I could write but, mainly to go up any decent expressway incline the truck will near redline on its own with no change in pressure on the gas pedal. I know about ect power mode and I use it. I also know it’s not a speed demon. But at this point it feels as if it’s going to rip out of the motor mounts or blow a gasket to go 65 mph as someone in prius flys by me lol. The truck seems to be fighting with itself and I’m wondering if anyone else has this issue or if y’all know about any solutions. Already took it to service just to get documentation of the issue and all they said was it’s a 4cyl use ect power. I just can’t for the life of me believe this is going to be a long lasting truck with this type of tuning/drive quality.

Mine is 2WD and it's slow, probably a tad better than your 4WD, but it doesn't bother me at all.

The 2.7 motor is overbuilt and really tough so you won't blow it up no matter how hard you try, provided you keep the fluids at the proper level and condition. Rev that sucker out, you won't hurt it a bit. Many people supercharge the 2.7 on stock internals and it still takes it like a champ. It's a Tacoma, not a Dakota.

you could redline the 2.7L for hours and it would be perfectly fine. i think the same motor has a higher redline on other vehicles. i forget which one. but i think it was detuned slightly for reliability on the tacoma.

your truck is also new...mine ran like utter dogcrap for the first 5000 miles or so. probably didn't help that i kept switching octane grades to see if i got better MPGs.

they actually test engines by redlining them for at least 100 hours to make sure there is no damage or premature wear.

You might be thinking of the 1AR-FE which is an undersquare transverse engine that they used in the Venza and Highlander for a few years each. It's also a 2.7L 4 cylinder, and it is a higher horsepower/torque motor with a higher redline, but not the same engine.
