Two of us this weekend really gave our gas tanks a workout...his was completely dented. Mine luckily just got scrapes

    It's worth it.

I went right to their website when I saw that OP's first post, and I was surprised to see theirs is 10ga too.

I've got RCI's aluminum version and I'm pretty happy with it. I think its a pretty good compromise for weight/protection. Like others have said, whichever one you go with try to get your gas tank pretty close to empty for the install.

Anyone here know if a third gen OEM gas skid will work on a second gen?

It's the same. That part design didn't change. I had swapped over my pelfreybilt skid from my 2gen to my 3gen.

I installed my RCI with a full tank - was that a bad decision or something? Literally 4 bolts…

It doesn’t matter at all on the TRD off road

I believe some models need to have the studded tank straps added since they don’t have a skid in the first place

I have the Victory 4X4 gas skid plate in steel. They mount theirs to the frame and crossmembers and not to the gas tank support straps. I also liked that it was more resistant to being drilled for gas theft. You might check out their installation video on YouTube.
