I am hoping some of you experts can help an amateur out. My daughter has a 2011 2wd Tacoma. The rear differential lock indicator light is on (red) It is 2wd, what is going on? Next problem the door locks on the passenger side will not open electrically, they will open manually. i looked for a fuse but it seems their is only one fuse for all door locks, the driver side locks will open electrically. What am i missing? 3rd question, the key will not unlock the door driver side door manually, it turns but will not unlock it. Any help in these problems will be appreciated. Thanks

Have you made sure the RR Diff Lock button isn't depressed?
Have you checked the passenger side door lock actuator with a test light on pins 1 (Blue/Black) and 4 (Blue/Red) when you lock/unlock the doors?
If the door won't unlock with the key then either the linkage between the key cylinder and the door latch is unhooked or there is a problem in the door latch.

You'll have to pull the door panels and look. Make sure everything is plugged in, look for damaged wiring, look at the linkage for the locks and handle

I had a 2011 OffRoad and had the same problem with "diff lock" light coming on randomly. I pulled the plunger type sensor out of the differential, worked it up and down a few times with my thumb, put it back in and never saw the light again

If she has this button then she has a differential lock. Just depress the button and tell her to drive it a little and it will unlock and the light will go away. This comes stock with the TRD off road trim.

Looking at the wiring diagram they don't appear to have anything in common aside from the junction connector 1H at the interior fuse box/body ECU but I think I would check for power at the actuators first, it's possible they both failed at different times and just got noticed.

the rear differential was locked and pusing the button cleared the light and she says it turns better, she also says thanks. I will use your tips and advice this weekend to trouble shoot the door lock situations, thanks again for the advise.

Yea I bet it does turn better without the diff locked, it's not uncommon for that button to get pressed accidentally which on a 4wd would only make the light blink unless it's in 4lo but on a 2wd it will lock the diff if it's under 3 mph.

    Excellent news, 1 down.

I'll defer re the locks but my surmise is the actuators, known thing sometimes on our trucks.

Lock cylinder turns but won't release the lock, that I bet is a linkage issue inside the door. There's a rod that attaches to the cylinder, most likely the plastic holding piece on the cylinder broke or (IF APPLICABLE) a clip on the other side to hold it fell out. My wife had a 2005 Rav4 I had to replace the lock on but I can't recall if it had a clip for sure. That's easy enough to take off the panel and investigate though..and the cylinder is simple to change out worst case, her Rav had the same design as this year of the truck. If you feel confident enough to check on the actuators you should be more than able to scope out and (if needed) change the lock cylinder.
