Want to add a Leer or ARE topper but don’t want my rear end to sag. I’d like to maintain factory rake with the cap on and go no more than
1 to 1 1/2 inch lift. Topper will be around 200lbs and I will be carrying a load on the weekends up to 300 lbs. I would still like it to ride nicely without a load in the bed. What should I buy? No limit on budget. I want comfort and don’t want to have to change bushings or have any rattles and noises coming from the truck. I’ve researched and researched. What do you think are my best options? I’m not looking for level. I want to maintain factory rake with the topper and up to 300lbs in the bed. I like doing things right the first time so even if it’s more $$$ I don’t care. My tire size is 265/70/16 on 2019 trd pro wheels. Do not want to purchase or install UCAS, unless it’s necessary, which I don’t think a 1” or 1 1/2” lift needs them anyway.

A cap only weighs about 200 pounds. You shouldn't have much sag with that on your stock suspension. If you are doing a lift, you will be putting on a stiffer suspension anyway so there would be even less sag with that. Here is my 2020 with a Snugtop Highlander with the sportsman's package (adds about 50lbs).20200817_184826.jpg

Does it maintain the factory rake with the cap on?

The correct solution isn't just a matter of a limitless budget.

How are you going to use your truck? Do you want to upgrade the suspension?

If you have a pavement princess and are only concerned about rake then perhaps a small block in the rear is all you need.

You might want to ask if one of the well known rear leaf pack replacement companies (Deaver, Dakar, etc) have a 1" higher option that won't negatively impact ride quality when empty.

Truck is primarily used on town roads to and from work on the weekdays and on weekends as a rig to go fishing and camping down in the Florida keys traveling to my home location about 250-300 miles away. The cap about 200lbs and the load I will be carrying on the weekends another 200-300 pounds. During the work week I will not be carrying the 2-300 lb load. Right now I have a softopper which isn’t secure enough. The reason I said the budget is unlimited is because I wanted all opinions from you guys. Just looking for the best setup. I should’ve mentioned what I will be carrying in my first post. I can’t stand seeing a nose high truck with a topper all loaded down.

Thanks. You're talking about relatively small loads.

You mention wanting to buy a cap/shell and don't want the squat... are you looking for an additional 1" lift (in addition to squat prevention?) or are you just wanting to retain factory height and rake with the new topper?

Are you happy with the stock ride and performance?

Thanks for the help! I don’t really need a lift, but thought it might enhance appearance as well as accomplish what I’m trying to do. I’m open to all suggestions. I will be honest, stock ride on my SR is a little harsh from factory. I had a 2017 trd off-road and that felt plush compared to my SR, especially when hitting potholes or highway driving.
My SR is quite jarring at times.

Hey Vic, I have 2015 Tacoma with a Snugtop rebel "200LBS". I have a 2 1/2 " lift, Bilstein 5100's OME 885X's and OME Dakar CS047R medium Leaf Packs and OME CB drop kit now. 3 in back due to the Medium leaf packs and love it.
I first put AAL's on it and it still sagged just with the shell. I put camping gear in the bed and two 100 lb dogs. It still sagged.. Then I invested in OME Dakar CS047R Leaf Packs and OME CB drop kit.
I recommend changing the rear leaf packs, you will not be disappointed. :) the part number is different now but these pack are great the ride is great and I still dig the lift after 7 years.
It does have a 1/2 rake that I like. No UCA's needed if you are under 3" of lift.

Looks great on your truck but OP specifically said no more than a 1.5" lift. Dakars claim a 2" lift on the 3rd gen.

    Name s,
I am just trying to help a fellow Tacoma owner by sharing my findings. Whether he has a Gen 3 or a Gen 2, I bet if if he has AAL's and all the weight he states he will have when going camping he will not be happy.
I am not here to be policed just help a fellow Tacoma owner. This is how I got my info when lifting my truck.. so I am giving back.

OP ... Something to think about OP Vic.

I really like my Icon RXT leaf packs, but don't think they'll meet the 1-1.5" lift requirement. What about Firestone airbags and Daystar cradles? Only other option would be a phone call to Deaver or Alcan and get some custom spring packs made up - and if money is no object, do this.
