I’ve ran the OneUp switch system on two of my bikes, both in 30T oval. No problems mechanically but I felt they were wearing out a little more quickly than I was used to. Not certain if them being oval may have contributed to the wear but I’ve since switched back to round RaceFace rings. If I was in a pinch to replace I’d go back to the OneUp without a second thought.

Wife told me to get my FS today….. should I? Lol. I’ve been riding my hard tail almost 10 months, almost every weekend and have been riding more technical terrain. I love my bike, but wouldn’t mind a FS. The kid in me says let’s gooooo, the adult in me says wait, but what for? Hehe

Someone give me some advice -

I picked up a barely used 2019 Kona Mahuna and am just getting into mountain biking. So far having lots of fun. Everyone I ride with is on $5000-12000+ Bikes and I keep hearing “man you have to get a full squish bike!” I’m not looking to spend more money on a far better bike right now but am adding a dropper post next week and have upgraded the pedals to some cheap composite OneUp’s with metal pins and some locking handlebar grips. That made a huge difference.

I’m thinking about ditching the WTB trail king tires for the more aggressive (and softer) minions to help with traction on tough climbs, but I may hold off and get some more miles out of these ones.

any other upgrades that can make a significant improvement without just throwing good money at an entry level bike?

For instance I was looking at a WTB Silverado Cromoly saddle as an upgrade when switching to the dropper post. Worth upgrading, or not?

    Other suggestions?

Got a solid 3 hours of riding at the USNWC today. Probably going to regret riding so long tomorrow lol.

Big ride today! Forests opened back up here in New Mexico with all this wet looking stuff we’ve been getting, so access to one of my favorite rides that we call ATM or Around the Mountain. 79 miles and 5800’ elevation. It whooped me today but the views……….

Well I made it 7 miles today on my arthritic senior citizen legs. On the flatland. And I switched off bikes three times.

My wife bought me this shirt.

Possibly she thinks it will scare off other women. (It doesn’t.)

Crazy props to @backcountryj (he’s in the tan shirt. I’m the goober in red). Dude slapped on a number for an MTB race for the first time today and picked a 36 mile “XC” race to do it. 36 miles is bordering Endurance distance IMHO but damn if he didn’t just jump right into the deep end on the first go. Nice work brochacho.

Thanks a ton for all the advice and encouragement!

@evenslower is being modest and failed to mention he grabbed another podium finish :boink: Single speed mashing maniac that finished long before I limped across the line.

Love me some Vassago, and SS is the only way to ride a beautiful rig like that. Not in the market for another frame right now, but if I was....

Word up. Looks like it’s going to a good home. A buddy I ride SS with pretty regularly was less able to resist the urge to build another bike up so it’s sold.

Actually, UCSC sucks, don’t bother coming here. This post is very deceiving - there is no In’n’Out in Santa Cruz either.

His cardio grosses me out. So now yours does too lol. I’ve never seen @backcountryj struggle cardio wise in the times I’ve biked with him. Impressive by both of you!
