I really like 6013 for vertical welds. so purdy.

We had to drill all the floorboards and crossmembers to screw new wood boards down on the dry vans so the T-drill was your huckleberry.

On a reefer the crossmembers are screwed to wood furring strips that are buried in the floor from the bottom after changing them. For those holes in the crossmembers we would have all the crossmembers lined up on sawhorses to chop saw them to length.

Then you'd take an Arc-gouge/arcair cutter and punch the holes in them straight down. It'd leave near perfect 1/4" holes in them with zero effort and no holes to drill.

 

No, those are 10 ply and it keeps it low so I can load four wheelers from the side

 

6013 is one of my favorites as well, it’s a great trash rod I call it. Rust, paint, whatever it’ll burn right through it.

There's a thread on the tractor forum about keeping mice out from under your tractor hood. I try to chime in about cayenne every time one pops up and have in several threads over the years. Looks like the word is getting out. This is the latest post.

"I generously sprinkled Ground Cayenne Red Pepper under the hood. That works as I haven't seen any sign of them in two years since using it."

 

I wish the previous owners of the unit I posted above knew that recipe.

I pulled a grocery bag full of debris/oil/dirt/vermin leavings out of that thing.

Honestly, I'm afraid to start it. I don't know how it ran being as plugged up as it was!

 

What do you folks recommend for a quality lift? I would like to be able to lift mainly a motorcycle, an atv and a riding lawn mower. It would be a bonus if the lift was capable of lifting my SCUT also (even from one end).

 

I did a comprehensive review of my HF Fischer over at the tractor forum with vids of it working. It is an ATV and cradle lift. Cradles and arm slide off to make it an ATV/motorcycle lift.

Hello, I just found this thread. I'm wondering if would be the right place to discuss old clunker riding lawn mowers? I keep an old White LT-15 going because I'm too cheap to buy anything new.

 

That's pretty much what I use almost exclusively at work. Barely have a bare spot and it'll strike an arc. Stink to high Heavan, the flux coating is a little dirty, and you gotta really start your puddle right or the beginning will look like shit. The big boss hates those rods for some reason, but I find ways of ordering them. He wants us to exclusively use 7018's, but those damn things are hard as Hell to strike and re-strike. Make a damn fine weld, but for what we do 6013 is fine. Luckily the office lady (who orders everything) adores me and I can still order them Might have to eventually compromise and use 7014's; they're easier to strike and are big boss approved. Need to order a 5lb box of 3/32 to try out. There was some old 1/8 ones in the rod dryer, but even being in there they were pretty damn crusty...

I've taught alot of co-workers to stick weld on 6013's. Super easy.

I built my own lift table. I copied this lift.

Toss a piece of plywood over the top and you have an adjustable lift table.

In addition, they are easy to move around the shop or outside.

I have a 2 post lift as well, but I find lift table gets used 2:1 as often.

And it will lift a car no problem.
