The extra PIDS were only a few bucks and I already had the OBD 2 connector for a few years now. I'd use the paperclip method, just like I did on OBD1 systems haha

I think the 115-130 is AT2, but I have no idea who would use that, or where the number is from.

Lots of Toyota trans don't even have the 2nd sensor, so its always 105 AT1.

This is confusing haha. Good thing we are discussing it to figure it out!

That is where I got the 115-130.

Now, on my old Camaro with a 6L80, the check temp was 86-122F.

I can tell you that Google sent me here.
    https://www.purefjcruiser.com/docs/...ion/Automatic Transmission Fluid/01700210.pdf

But, like I said earlier. I don’t go by that on MY truck.
I put back in what comes out. OP should do as you said, because it’s “ more right”.

I’m ok with breaking my stuff, I don’t want to help some break theirs.

Ah so maybe the AT light on the dash is triggered off of AT2? Down the rabbits hole more..

I'm going with 105 on AT1, time to move on lol

Maybe, as I think someone else said in this thread, the other sensor which reads higher is the one the temp check light is connected to.

This is the first I’ve heard of there being two sensors. I’m certainly not well versed on the Toyota transmission.

But anyway this is also why I like the temp check light procedure as I don’t have to worry about what the actual temp is and where.

The difference between the 2 sensors during the fill process would be a couple extra dribbles of fluid draining from the stand pipe .
In the end , as long as you set you temperature properly during the fill process , 10 degrees hotter or cooler wont make much of a difference .
I can say that these transmissions perform better with more fluid rather than less .
Its common practice at the shop to throw the bolt back in the stand pipe with a steady flow of fluid coming out the stand pipe rather than waiting for the dreaded dribble .
This is more noticeable in the 4 wheel drive models that are driven up steep inclines or backing up a steep driveway after a cold start up .
New transmission fluid has reagents to protect the transmission from a slight overfill .
New transmission fluid " does not have " reagents to protect the transmission from being underfilled

Can I use an infrared thermometer gun to check that the pan its a 105? I mean for God's sake, it's gonna be 111 here in Palms Spring today, can I check the temp like that ??

If the outside air temp was lower I would say that the exterior pan temp is going to lag behind the internal sensor (by what delta who knows).

But if it’s already 105+ out…I would think you can safely refill the tranny without heating it up.
