Looking to direct replace front Bilstein 5100's on truck. currently has super old 5100 but on lowest ring setting. How many rings up or lift can the UCA and LCA support without rubbing.??

Using 265/75/16 KO2's with stock 16 inch wheels. Ideally want to move to 275 if possible.

I just added 5100's replacements to the rear but want to add a 1-2 inch AAL... I have already had the RAS rear leafs replaced which are a 3+1 from the 3rd gen vs the 2+1 from the original 2nd gen leafs.

Advice on AAL kits and which ring setting I can go max?

Are 5100's worth using the stock coil on or should that be replaced too?

    Thanks for the help

Welcome to TW Chris!! I got a basic Toytec lift to upgrade my truck. If it’s old parts, new ones will help! I would recommend some new coilovers & rear shocks that can handle 1-3” lift from an AAL.

Heres the kit I got. If you go to 275, you will certainly rub with most set ups. Unless your offset is perfect with SPC UCAs. Most ppl rub with OEM UCA with big tires. I say just do SPC UCAs & CMC & be done with it.

Don’t be afraid to cut some! :sawzall:

I have purchase all four struts from that kit already. rears are installed. Are the stock coils safe/ worth running on ring level 2 for the fronts without UCA...?? It wont be a while fore tires but I appreciate the advice on cutting certain fender areas for space. I am not looking for huge lift just a little more.

I have hopes to swap wheels next tire change and find a 17 inch stock TRD OR wheels so I can go 265/75/17 and have no issues giving me another few inches via tire/wheel.

Thoughts... If possible not to replace UCA that would be ideal. its a daily driver and we take it to snow a week a year.

I would take this opportunity to replace the coils. After all, they’re 16 years old.

    Ring 2 is .85”.
I doubt that’s going to tax the spring much. Even an “old” spring.

Any suggestions on moderately priced coils?

You can buy 5100’s assembled with various coils, but Bilstein says they’re designed for the stock coils. When I was considering 5100’s that was my plan, to buy new stock coils.

I put 5100's with my stock coils on the 3rd ring @ 130K miles and never looked back. Actually I initially set them up on the 4th ring but lowered them back down prior to alignment and saw no need to replace the coils. My '06 TRD OR currently with 165K, has a full-time Leer shell and 200# worth of tools loaded all the time. The OR has a progressive front spring that to me still has a compliant/comfortable ride around town and on the freeway. The only time I might feel a compressed stiffness is on a washboard type of road. YRMV

Good to know about 3rd ring. Did you do anything to the rear to balance the increase or did you just have a slight hood rise???
I kinda like that look but I'm still undecided .

09 and 3rd ring same as taco912 with stock coils so the 1.75" up. Put on in 2015 about 85k miles ago along with OME heavy rear springs. No alignment problems and was done with install never had to do since.
Stock alloys with 265/70R16 Falken Wildpeak A/T3W. Have a slight rack with rear about 1-2" higher so fully loaded or towing its level. Have hit Ouray and Moab areas for several years now. Full 3/16" steel skids.
You can spend a ton on suspension and get a great ride but mine is OK on road and off road I slow down. Not into looks on a 13-year old truck and yours is an 06.

Hey- I installed the new 5100's with the stock coils on ring level 3 adding about 0.95 inches to the total front suspension. I was already at ring level 2 which I did not know so my gains were smaller than anticipated. No tire rubbing or tension on brake lines or abs sensor lines so far.

I have a evident hood rise when driving and a visual rise when viewed from the side....

I purchased the icon add a leaf package with longer U bolts and plan to install that in the near future.

The Icon says it increases 1.5 -2 inches overall however I don't know if that is with or without the stock overload spring.....

Anyone removed their overload spring with the AAL installed?? I ultimately want a balanced from to back height.

You're always gonna rub no matter how much lift you have if you go over 265s. Start cutting.

are there wheels that would allow a 275 size tire to extend outward still with no rubbing?? or would a spacer(I know their trash) be required??

No that will make it worse just start cutting if you want bigger tires.
