Happy to announce that our baby has been born! Our first, and it's been a true joy to have her around already. Hard to convey how amazing being a dad is, if only for four days.

Open and listening to any dad-related advice

 

Looked at some wiring diagrams to see where I went wrong. I had the "floor wire" unplugged so I had room to install the dash harness. If I left it plugged in I wouldn't have run into this problem.

I did not install the new harness, I had the time but it was just too hot outside. Maybe next weekend. It looks like rain but I may be able to do it at work.
I checked with a code reader and had no codes and everything works.

These are the two connectors I had switched.

Good morning CT.
I'm relieved that I don't need an engine computer and that it was just my mistake upon installation.
Now that I still have the new harness (I did not install it over the weekend), I'm going to remove the small illumination wires that go to the switches that I'll add later. I'm also going to re-tape the drivers side of the harness where the mistake happened. I'll have a better look at the picture I took of the harness when it was new so I can try and replicate it.

On a side note, does anybody know the orientation of the blower motor resistor? I installed the new one and it doesn't want to sit flush.
I'm also ordering a small vent from Toyota. I broke the drivers side when I took the truck apart.

I still hope to have this done next Saturday. Well at least the harness installation and the dashboard back in with the new blower resistor, after that the rest of the interior is pretty simple (radio/center console/glove box, etc.).

Been feeling like shit since yesterday evening/night.

Took an at home test, said positive.

Always heard those are not very accurate, so went to urgent care to get a PCR done.

Been staying away from the wife and kids.

I don't mind getting sick... the shitty part if that my parents were over all day yesterday, my in-laws for a while, and my cousin + his wife + their two kids, so I'm hoping that if I do have the rona, I didn't get anyone else sick.

Especially my inlaws since they are traveling to Portugal Wednesday night.

Hoping to get the results tomorrow, and they're negative and it's just a bad cold. The doc at urgent care said that people's immune system is all messed up from wearing masks, so normal colds are much worse than before.

Guess we'll wait and see.

Just be careful. The home tests are mostly correct when it’s a positive. There are mostly false negatives with them. Meaning, someone tests negative at home, but they could be positive. Wait for the PCR to come back, but keep safe in the meantime.
