How do you Replace the Rear Glass slider on an 08 Tacoma?

I Just ordered a rear slider for my 08 Tacoma dbl cab and I'm not certain how to swap it out...anybody done it? Anybody know how?

Seems it can be done with two guys, a rope, and some WD40. haha.

 

at pepboys....they actually sell a ropecable type deal for installing windshields. you have to be careful with it, but i think it will work on rear glass too man. and it aint expensive either.

I put one in my 87 single cab many years ago at my buddies Z-bart. Some are easy and others, not so easy. Mine, unfortunately was the ladder, but we got it in.

No way it would have gone in without two of us.

 

Skip the WD-40 and use dish soap. The WD will get everywhere and is a bitch to clean up after. One guy inside and one guy outside and the rope will work. Run the rope around the gasket so each end of the ropes are/meet at the bottom center so you can pull from the bottom center to the lower outside corners at the same time and then work up the side and across the top. Keep wrapping the slack rope around your hand and keep an even pull while the outside guy keeps inward pressure.

It'll be in before you know it.

You may want to run a bead of sealer around the outside part of the gasket just for insurance. Get a plastic putty knife or what is called a "popsicle stick" It's a plastic stick that allows you to pry and "walk" the gasket out without scratching the truck. Pull that outer lip as far as you can, run a bead of sealer close to the slider frame , then let the lip snap back. If you set the bead deep enough you won't have to clean up any ooze.
