Servicing my 2.5 King Coilovers for the first time. I have a 2006 Tacoma with the Total Chaos standard +2 kit so to my knowledge the shocks are longer than OEM Kings.

Anyways, I’ve been riding very stiff. I went from 700lb coils to 600lb one with no noticeable difference. It seems my truck follows bumps instead of the suspension cycling. So I decided to rebuild them and while I’m in there, put a lighter shim stack in. I contacted King and they told me there should be a standard .020 stack with a .012 flutter in there. I decided to try a standard .015 stack with a .008 flutter.

I just have a few questions while they’re still apart:

Will a .015 stack be too sloppy?

Do I put the flutter shim 1 or 2 shims down from the piston face?

Can anyone confirm or deny if this is a rate plate at the bottom of my compression stack?

The pic is what it looked like when I took them apart, so I assume that’s just the standard. But after seeing photos of other shocks, there isn’t much space between the top nut and rebound stack, and there’s a lot of space between the compression stack and the seal cap compared to others. Any help is appreciated.

Here’s a pic with everything slid down a bit…is the silver spacer just that…a spacer? Or what is the use for that?
