Do you know how many 5.4's shit the bed and left the owners high and dry? Same with the transmissions.

Thats without touching the diesels over the years.

I've owned a F150 4.6 and worked on them. They are not perfect or reliable.

My 1999 Ford Ranger with the 3.0 had a reputation lasting over 200,000 miles .
The Ford 4.0 ? Not so good of a reputation.

I actually like my 1999 Ford Ranger. Perform greatly off roads, no power going up hills when loaded with gear.
But was getting old. Like all old trucks it wears out. Strictly farm use. Stuck in 4L, perfect for the farm use. Miss the A/C. Radio works , and I just had the LSD rebuilt w/ new gears. Just check 180,425

The radio is very old, but modern music comes out? Um? Kidding.

I like the ford a lot because of the look and front and rear locker.
I don't like turbos for a gas truck. I would take hybrid over turbo. I wish the tacoma had the 2.7l with some sort of hybrid front and rear lockers. That would win my heart

I think the Tacoma Crawl controls do work well. Hard to beat a front and rear locker.

The Ford Ranger (TM) plus (TCS) traction control system, and anytime rear locker makes a Ford Ranger a very capable off road truck.
Ford reputation reliability vs Tacoma reliability, debatable.

The Australia Tacoma sales vs Ranger was Tacoma-45,000 , Ranger-40,000. Both with strong followings.
